This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters. The PositionLead IT Expert - RDT Data Platforms Roche Digital Technology (RDT) is where innovation meets purpose. As a global team at the heart of Roche, we are a community of business-minded technologists committed to help shape tomorrow’s digital future of healthcare. Our mission is to power Roche through cutting-edge digital technologies, harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence, data, and scalable tech innovations. Driven by purpose and passion, we’re building a future where digital is a core strength across all of Roche, enabling smarter ways of working, unlocking human potential, and driving breakthroughs that truly matter for millions of patients around the world. The Lead IT Expert (Tech Lead) for DataOps will drive the technical direction of our custom platform engineering solutions. You will not be building standard data pipelines; instead, you will architect, maintain, and evolve DataOps.Roche—the critical CI/CD ecosystem, infrastructure, and deployment tooling that enables hundreds of data engineers to process data safely across our global organization. This role requires deep expertise in Python, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and modern CI/CD ecosystems to lead massive architectural shifts, including migrating to an orchestrator-agnostic framework and transitioning from GitLab to GitHub. You will ensure the resilience of our platform while seamlessly integrating enterprise tools like Snowflake, Collibra, Monte Carlo, and HashiCorp Vault. We are a platform team within RDT Data Platforms at Roche, operating under a decentralized Data Mesh architecture. Our core mission is to act as the foundational platform team, delivering the custom DataOps solution to various data product teams across the enterprise. We treat our internal tools, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as a product, empowering these decentralized teams to build, deploy, and scale their data products efficiently and securely within a highly regulated environment. We are currently expanding our mission to serve additional platforms beyond the initial scope, making this a pivotal time for the team. The Opportunity Scope: Lead the technical roadmap for the DataOps.Roche platform. Drive the critical refactoring of our core solution from native GitLab CI structures into an orchestrator-agnostic Python framework. Establish a centralized data modeling service for the broader ecosystem. Accountability/Problem Solving: Manage and maintain our complex Terraform-based infrastructure, which provisions GitLab/GitHub groups, projects, HashiCorp Vault engines, and dedicated runners. Ensure regulated releases are seamless by maintaining our automated validation processes and custom autovalidate package. Stakeholder Management: Act as a product owner for the platform. Liaise with decentralized data product teams to understand developer experience (DevEx) bottlenecks. Guide senior leadership on platform strategy, tooling evaluation, and infrastructure investments. Impact/Strategy: Lead high-impact strategic initiatives, including the complex migration from GitLab to GitHub and the evaluation/implementation of Dagster as our next-generation data orchestrator. Identify and integrate applied AI into the DataOps lifecycle to boost developer efficiency. Complexity / (Product Size): Manage an enterprise-grade platform integrating multiple major technologies: Snowflake (data platform), Collibra (data catalog), Monte Carlo (observability), HashiCorp Vault (secrets management), and Talend (ETL). Build a new internal meta-data product that collects and exposes telemetry about pipelines executed across all data product teams. Business / Technical ability: Architect and build a robust platform observability and monitoring solution to track runner utilization, infrastructure metrics, and deployment reliability. Design scalable, platform-agnostic frameworks rather than tightly coupled scripts. Who You Are Education & Professional Tracks: Requires an MSc/BSc degree preferably in Computer Science (or a related field) alongside a proven track record as a Tech Lead, Platform Engineer, or Infrastructure Architect. Infrastructure & Platform Management: Demonstrated experience managing multi-tenant environments and infrastructure as code at an enterprise scale, while treating internal platforms as products with a distinct focus on developer experience (DevEx). Regulated Environments: Experience operating within strictly regulated or validated environments (specifically GxP) is a significant advantage. Core Automation & CI/CD Skills: Expert-level Python skills for building robust, orchestrator-agnostic automation frameworks, combined with deep expertise in GitLab CI/CD (current state) and GitHub Actions (future state). Cloud, Infrastructure & Secrets Tools: Strong, hands-on proficiency with Terraform for managing cloud resources, infrastructure, and platform access, alongside scale-level proficiency in Docker image management and automated HashiCorp Vault engines for dynamic secrets management. Observability & Data Ecosystem Integration: Experience designing/implementing monitoring stacks (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana) for infrastructure health, paired with strong familiarity with data integrations (Snowflake, Collibra, Monte Carlo, Talend) and an interest or experience in data orchestrators (Airflow, Dagster). Leadership & Architectural Vision: Possesses a pragmatic architectural vision to design globally scalable solutions that solve concrete problems without over-engineering, backed by an exceptional capability to mentor junior engineers and guide cross-functional teams on platform best practices. What you get Salary range 19,000-35,400 PLN gross based on the employment contract. Annual bonus payment based on your performance. Dedicated training budget (training, certifications, conferences, diversified career paths etc.). Recharge Fridays (2 Fridays off per quarter available). Take time Program (up to 3 months of leave to use for any purpose). Vacation subsidy available. Flex Location (possibility to perform our work from different places in the world for a certain period of time). Take Time for Charity (additional paid leave of maximum 2 weeks to engage in the charity action of your choice). Private healthcare (LuxMed packages), group life insurance (UNUM) and Multisport. Stock share purchase additions. Yearly sales of company laptops and cars and many more! Apply directly and join us in shaping the future of healthcare.
