Work Schedule Standard (Mon-Fri) Environmental Conditions Office Job Description As a Senior Financial Analyst, you play a critical role in supporting the operations business at the Hillsboro site for the Electron Microscopy business, part of the Material & Structural Analysis division within Thermo Fisher Scientific. You will be an integral member of our operations finance team, ensuring financial integrity, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making. In this dynamic, fast-paced role, you’ll support the production of cutting-edge scanning electron microscopes essential for quality control in the integrated circuit industry. Your expertise will directly contribute to Thermo Fisher Scientific’s position as a global leader in scientific innovation. Expectations of the role Be the business partner to the senior operations managers of 3 Nort American sites: Richardson (TX), Fremont (CA), and Tewksbury (MA), aligning financial goals and operational objectives. Drive the annual budgeting (AOP) and monthly forecasting process including reporting through the monthly operation reviews Leverage advanced tools, including AI, drive sustainable and scalable data accuracy and reporting capabilities. Perform in-depth analysis of production costs, variances, and cost drivers to support data-driven operational decisions. Oversee and optimize inventory levels to minimize excess and maximize efficiency by establishing metrics, modeling scenarios, and implementing process improvements. Work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, and operations teams to streamline workflows, improve productivity, and manage costs with a focus on achieving financial and operational plans. Ensure adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, corporate policies, and regulatory requirements in alignment with financial and cost accounting standards. Coach and mentor junior team members Ad hoc projects based on business needs Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proven ability to drive change by partnering with, and influencing, partners and stakeholders at all levels of the organization Effective spoken and written communication skills are required to collaborate with various partners Strong business sense and ability to think beyond financial implications only Financial savvy, including deep familiarity with concepts of forecasting, budgeting and variance analysis, as well as in root cause data interpretation Self-motivated, flexibility and strong work ethic with the goal of getting the job done Organized multitasker: workload prioritization, enable the team to meet timelines while achieving results, especially in a fast-paced environment Continuous Improvement approach: Identify process and control gaps and champion improvement initiatives through process improvements Travel to the 3 sites (up to 25%) Education/ Experience Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred Preferred fields of study: Finance or Accounting Minimum of 8 years of increasing finance experience supporting financial and business leadership in a global organization. Manufacturing, R&D, and/or semiconductor industry experience preferred. Experience utilizing data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau, etc), advanced Excel (Power Query, PowerPivot) and AI tools (Alteryx, Copilot, Databricks, etc) are a big plus.
