The Region Associate Director (RAD) is a remote leadership position that is primarily responsible for leading a high performing field-based Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team trained in the area of Neurology and providing input to medical planning that support the safe and effective use of our medicines by patients, physicians, and payers. The RAD position is also responsible for working closely with senior management to create and execute medical initiatives at a national level. This position includes account management responsibilities across current and future portfolios, liaising with different groups within BMS R&D to match interests and improve customer satisfaction and productivity. This position reports into a national Field Medical Director role. The RAD position is underpinned with the expectation of leadership commitment and role modelling of the highest standards of quality, compliance, uncompromising ethics, and integrity. Leading and Managing Field Medical (FM) Team Team Management Active member of the Field Medical leadership/ management team, within and across therapeutic areas (TA) Identifies talent, conducts robust interview process for selecting highly qualified FM and other Medical personnel, and fills vacancies expeditiously Defines and effectively implements key talent retention strategies Ensures new staff attend new hire on-boarding and complete required therapeutic and administrative training programs within established timelines Develops appropriate succession plan Translates FM objectives into individual performance goals for direct reports and helps define performance goals Develops an annual development plan with each direct report; tracks progress toward and supports the execution of the plan through identification of opportunities Drives and tracks performance of FM team members and ensures objectives are met by regional FM team Effectively provides consistent coaching, mentoring, and frequent feedback to direct reports, and others, as appropriate; documents behavioral observations and performance as directed and/or as needed Conducts all company directed performance assessments with reports and actively participates in talent conversations Promotes a culture of innovation, constructive challenge, team spirit and accountability within the region that is patient-centric Creates and encourages an environment that stresses open, candid and timely feedback relative to performance and behaviors Provides training and direction to FM team members on developing appropriate peer-to-peer scientific engagement Identifies and communicates skills/knowledge gaps among FM personnel (and at national level) to the FM Lead and FM Trainer; and outlines plan to address with skill-building approaches Represents customers’/stakeholders’ concerns, priorities, and needs with internal stakeholders to develop strategic plans and innovative solutions Sets specific and measurable objectives and tracks and analyses performance data against these measurements for the team Disease Area Reference Point Continuously updates and monitors team knowledge of Disease Area (DA), patient treatment trends, product data and scientific activities Ensures participation of team in planned therapeutic training activities Ensures FM engages in timely exchanges with external customers and internal partners in accordance with compliance policies and procedures to communicate medical information for all products in an accurate, balanced, fair and objective manner National Level Leadership Recognized by others for ability to develop field medical staff and preparing them for expanded roles across the enterprise Track record of creating innovative employee development programs to advance medical functionality and foster employee retention Develops training initiatives that have national impact Effectively manages Account responsibilities for 2 or more accounts Responsible for the development and execution of a medical account plan for 2+ accounts and orchestrating relationship management Recognized within and between TAs for strategic and visionary thinking on a broad scope and national level Demonstrates a national, broad-based perspective on medical and healthcare issues and opportunities in addition to geographical TA specific perspective Track record of identifying and developing innovative approaches to work processes and results Stakeholder Management Expert Contributor to Internal Partners Coordinates regional scientific support consistent with FM Plans in alignment with high-priority regional business issues Provides strategic input and insights as part of compliant collaboration across the matrix in support of account management Promotes effective working relationships with internal partners including cross-matrix field leadership. Establishes effective cross-functional work practices [in co-marketed product arrangements] Ensures appropriate regional management of speaker lists and speaker program support (if applicable) Contributes FM expertise to regional accounts aligned to Brand and Medical strategy. Collaborates on global initiatives and activities, when appropriate Frequently called upon to serve on cross-functional or cross-therapeutic teams that have national impact External Expert Manager Maintains strong knowledge of regional and national External Experts to provide input into planning, matrix initiatives, and requests for TL information Ensures FM team captures and communicates relevant medical insights; provides insight updates across the matrix as appropriate; contributes to development/implementation of action plans resulting from key insights Support FM team in developing strong networks with External Experts Review/Approval of key TLs/HCPs for focused medical reach Clearly understands the needs of thought leaders, payers and patients in the medical services and healthcare model; facilitates the provision of relevant information exchange for each Guides team members in appropriate application of Thought Leader profiling activities and selections of health care providers for individual Medical Plan interactions Recognized by others for strategic vision and planning regarding customer centric approach to interactions; utilizes customized approaches to meet knowledge needs of customers Demonstration of customer-facing responsibility at aligned accounts (e.g., national/international TLs, C-suite); Visit frequency of at least 2x per year Track record of connecting customers to internal organization and its resources that is innovative and forward focused Customer Centric Focus and Medical Insights Uses active listening to understand customer needs and promote focused communication while ensuring appropriate two-way engagement with customers Significantly contributes to development and shaping of customer centric approach and medical insight programs Uses innovative approaches to provide seamless customer experiences Recognized by others for strategic vision regarding customer centric focus, customer interactions, and applicability of customer m
