Abbott Ireland Diabetes Care Division Donegal The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system. About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Laboratory Manager to lead our Sensor Testing Laboratory in Donegal. This is a key leadership role where you will oversee all testing activities, drive operational excellence, and ensure the highest standards of quality, compliance, and efficiency. You will play a critical part in shaping the performance of the lab, leading a high-performing team, and collaborating cross-functionally to support business and customer needs. Key Responsibilities Lead and develop a team of sensor test leads, fostering a high-performance and collaborative environment Oversee all laboratory testing activities to ensure delivery against production and project timelines Drive operational excellence initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and performance Provide technical expertise and guidance across all sensor testing capabilities Manage departmental and project budgets, ensuring effective resource utilisation Monitor, measure, and report on lab performance and testing outcomes Ensure full compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures Identify and escalate any risks that may impact product quality, safety, or delivery Champion a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility within the lab Qualifications and Experience A third-level qualification in Engineering, Science, Manufacturing, or a related discipline Experience in a Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, or similarly regulated environment Proven leadership or supervisory experience with the ability to motivate and develop teams Strong technical understanding of testing environments or laboratory operations Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement What we Offer: Attractive compensation package that includes competitive pay, as well as benefits such as Family health insurance Excellent pension scheme Life assurance Career Development Fantastic new facility Growing business plus access to many more benefits.
