DESCRIPTION: Join our R&D team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and help advance discoveries that make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. As a Mechanical Engineer I, you'll work on product development projects, from concept through manufacture, collaborating with teams to create solutions that address scientific challenges. You'll develop and optimize mechanical designs using industry-leading tools and practices, while ensuring compliance with quality standards and manufacturing requirements. This role offers opportunities for professional growth and meaningful impact as you contribute to the development of sophisticated laboratory equipment and scientific instruments that enable our customers' success. REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor's Degree required, 0-2 years of experience required in mechanical design and product development • Preferred Fields of Study: Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical, Thermal, or related Engineering discipline • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, including modeling and drawing creation • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science • Experience with ASME Y14 drawing standards and GD&T principles • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including plastic injection molding, sheet metal, casting, and welding • Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems and engineering change management processes • Experience with design analysis, tolerance stack-ups, and design for manufacturability • Understanding of product development lifecycle and validation processes • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and relevant industry standards • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes
