Job Overview We are looking for an experienced Staff Scientist to serve as both a scientific leader and technical expert within our MicroArray Research & Development team. In this role, you will help shape the long-term evolution of our MicroArray technologies by defining scientific strategies, guiding technical decisions, and translating scientific insight into innovative products. This is an opportunity to influence the future of MicroArray technologies by leading the development of new products, advancing existing technologies, and solving complex scientific challenges that directly impact customers around the world. You will have the autonomy to define scientific strategies, design innovative experiments, and take ownership of key scientific and technical decisions across multidisciplinary projects. Your work will influence the direction of technology development from concept through implementation. Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Technical Operations, Product Management, and Global R&D teams, you will help transform scientific discoveries into robust, scalable products. Beyond your technical expertise, you will play an important role in mentoring colleagues, promoting scientific excellence, and strengthening the technical capabilities of the broader organization. Key Responsibilities Lead scientific strategy and take end-to-end ownership of complex technical challenges, making sound scientific decisions that guide technology development and project outcomes Lead complex scientific projects from concept through implementation, providing scientific direction and technical leadership Drive the development of new MicroArray products, technologies, and assay improvements while contributing to the long-term evolution of the MicroArray technology platform Design, execute, and interpret complex experiments using strong scientific rigor and critical thinking Investigate challenging product, assay, reagent, and process-related issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions Translate experimental findings into clear technical recommendations that influence product and project decisions Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Technical Operations, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Product Management, and Global R&D teams Present scientific findings and recommendations to technical teams, project stakeholders, and senior leadership Mentor scientists and technical colleagues, promoting best practices in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific problem solving Identify opportunities for innovation, technology advancement, and continuous improvement across products and processes Foster a culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning Experience and Qualifications PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or another Life Sciences discipline or Equivalent scientific expertise gained through relevant postdoctoral and/or industrial R&D experience Skills and Competencies Extensive hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related disciplines Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex scientific investigations Strong experimental design, statistical analysis, and scientific data interpretation skills Proven experience solving complex technical challenges through structured scientific approaches Ability to make sound, data-driven scientific decisions Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary and international teams Ability to influence project direction through scientific expertise Experience mentoring or coaching scientists and technical colleagues Strong digital literacy and experience using scientific software, modern data analysis, automation, AI-assisted tools, and digital technologies to accelerate scientific research and data-driven decision-making Fluent written and spoken English What We Offer Annual performance bonus and additional financial benefits Comprehensive health package, including private health, life and accident insurance Wellbeing support for employees and their family members, including mental health consultations, health check-ups, vaccinations, and on-site health initiatives Opportunities for professional growth through internal training, access to Thermo Fisher e-University, and continuous development The opportunity to work in a global, innovation-driven organization and collaborate with international teams Scientific autonomy to lead projects and influence technology development Access to world-class laboratories, advanced technologies, and highly experienced colleagues Daily benefits such as subsidized meals, gym access, and company transportation An inclusive and supportive culture, with team events and community initiatives 2 additional paid volunteering days per year We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity.
