FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT - Lubumbashi Sandvik Mining and Construction DRC is a Sales Unit based in Lubumbashi, within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, a Business Area that is a leading supplier of equipment and tools, service and support for the mining industry. We also provide solutions and expertise across a wide range of applications, including rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, tunnelling, and quarrying. Your mission In the role of a Financial Accountant, focus will be on accurately preparing financial statements and reports that reflect the organisation’s financial position, performance, and compliance with regulations and Sandvik reporting requirements. Key responsibilities for the DRC entities will include, Overall responsibility for maintaining the DRC entities' Chart of Accounts and suggesting changes to suit business needs. The Financial Accountant Reporting will have overall responsibility for the trial balances for both entities. Sandvik OneStream reporting – responsible for accurate reporting of Sandvik monthly, quarterly and year reporting forms and disclosures in OneStream in accordance with Sandvik Financial reporting requirements Preparation of IFRS Financial Statements - Develop accurate balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Compliance and Regulation – Assist with monitoring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies, helping to safeguard the organisation against risks. Internal Controls Monitoring & Testing - Participate in evaluating internal control systems by conducting regular audits and testing controls to identify inefficiencies or weaknesses. Coordinating and following up with the Finance team on the monthly documents for Sandvik reporting. Financial Analysis - Analyse financial data to provide insights into business performance. Complete the weekly, monthly and quarterly management reports. Attending to external audits and ensuring that audits are completed on time. Actively assisting during internal audits, ensuring that all financial reporting processes are continuously reviewed and updated to meet Group requirements. Managing direct reports and ensuring that deliverables are completed on time. Any other duties as directed by the supervisor and senior management. Your profile We are looking for a person with good Financial Reporting understanding and a solid background from the mining or engineering business. You’ve good knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting frameworks. As we act in a global context, you are good in both English and French; computer literacy and Aurora/SAP ERP knowledge are advantageous. Key Qualifications Degree in Accounting, Finance, or any other relevant qualifications A professional qualification or postgrad is an added advantage. At least five years' experience as a financial accountant in a related business. Proficiency in financial accounting and accounting software, Power BI, OneStream, Workiva Competence in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Proven experience in financial reporting. Experience with testing and monitoring internal controls Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Competencies Ability to effectively perform multiple tasks and establish priorities. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information. Valid Driving License. Deadline-driven with the ability to work under pressure. Effective communicator. People management skills. Effective customer relationship skills. Knowledge of the company’s and customers' business procedures. Ability to effectively perform multiple tasks. Knowledge of strategic application of HR management principles and organisational skills application. Skills of quality financial reporting including month-end trial balance, balance sheet, profit and loss, annual financial statements with relevant and current disclosures.
