The Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Operating Unit offers devices and therapies that treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms and heart failure. We are comprised of three businesses: Cardiac Pacing Therapies Cardiovascular Diagnostics & Services Defibrillation Solutions The Senior Biomedical Engineer will play a key role in advancing Medtronic’s Cardiac Rhythm Management therapies by leading the design and development of innovative mechanical and electromechanical catheters. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to life-changing cardiac technologies within a dynamic, cross-functional environment focused on safety, reliability, and performance. As a seasoned technical specialist, you will drive complex engineering solutions from concept through verification, while collaborating closely with manufacturing, systems, and other R&D teams to deliver meaningful innovations that improve patient outcomes. This position is in Mounds View, MN. within the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) operating unit. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects. Medtronic walks the walk, creating an inclusive culture where you can thrive. A Day in Life: In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Senior Biomedical Engineer role. This includes, but is not limited to the following: Design and Develop requirements, plan, design, develop, and verify mechanical and electromechanical catheters in the cardiac space, ensuring these products achieve high standards of safety, reliability, and performance. Innovation and Improvement: Recommend and implement options or approaches to enhance safety, performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of systems, processes, and facilities. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and systems engineers, to deliver integrated solutions. Problem Solving: Analyze complex engineering problems, provide in-depth analysis and innovative solutions to improve processes and products. Prototyping and Testing: Oversee the creation of prototypes and conduct rigorous testing to validate and refine designs. This role will also be responsible for design characterization. Documentation and Compliance: Prepare detailed engineering documentation and ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and department best practices. Qualifications Must Have - Minimum Requirements TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, PLEASE BE SURE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or a related technical discipline and minimum of 4 years of technical work experience OR advanced degree with 2 years of work technical experience.
