This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters. The Position Enterprise Architect - Data & AI (Cross Domain) The Principal Enterprise Architect for Data & AI provides essential architectural oversight, visionary leadership, and strategic guidance across a Cross-Domain context. Reporting directly to the Head of Enterprise Architecture, this highly impactful role is specifically designed to architect and oversee Roche’s largest, most promising AI and Data use cases that span across multiple functions (Pharma R&D, Pharma Medicines, Diagnostics, Group Functions, Data, AI, EPIE, Information Security). In this role, you will act as a principal orchestrator across the broader global architecture community. Rather than focusing on a single sub-function, you will guide cross-domain alignment to balance enterprise coherence with functional autonomy. By architecting scalable Data & AI ecosystems and defining the "digital laws" that govern them, you will safely accelerate the adoption of high-value AI capabilities while actively preventing technological fragmentation and agentic chaos. Description of the Area The Strategy, Portfolio & Governance (SPG) Enterprise Architecture function shapes, aligns, and executes technology strategy by connecting business ambition to investment, architecture, and delivery. For this specific role, a primary domain is Informatics (RDT scope), alongside other complex cross-enterprise domains. You will partner closely with the RDT Artificial Intelligence and RDT Data functions to bridge overarching enterprise strategy with tangible technology execution. While you will support our vertical business facing functions to implement the most complex AI solutions you will ensure that foundational AI models, data products, and agentic workflows are built for enterprise-wide reuse, aligning closely with the ambitious RDT Excellence goals to simplify our landscape and drive value through digital synergy. Job Responsibilities Strategic AI Program Leadership: Maintain the architectural vision and roadmap for the largest, most transformative cross-domain Data & AI initiatives. Define target architectures that align seamlessly with overarching enterprise strategy, ensuring that high-value AI use cases deliver measurable business impact. Cross-Domain Orchestration ("Federated by Design"): Act as the vital connective tissue between various business divisions. Partner with Domain Architects across Pharma and Diagnostics to ensure that AI solutions and data products developed in one area can be leveraged globally, optimizing the overarching application landscape. AI Governance & Assurance ("Everything-as-Code"): Lead architecture governance to drive alignment across functions. Establish a lightweight, principle-driven governance model underpinned by reference architectures and automated guardrails. You will author the digital guardrails that ensure AI compliance, security, and ethical use without creating bureaucratic bottlenecks. Strategic Advisory & Technology Innovation: Assess and drive the adoption of external technology trends (e.g., emerging LLMs, RAG patterns, Agentic AI), identifying opportunities to reuse, consolidate, and optimize the enterprise technology landscape. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, supporting informed trade-offs between speed, cost, risk, reuse, and sustainability. Portfolio & Investment Alignment: Collaborate with portfolio management to embed architectural insights into investment processes. Provide critical architectural insights to the leadership teams to actively manage technical debt, monitor application lifecycles, and prioritize funding for high-yield AI initiatives. Data-Driven Transparency: Promote the philosophy that the value of architecture is measured by better decisions and delivery outcomes. Leverage our integrated architecture toolchain (ArchiMEDES) to provide critical architectural insights for the RDT Leadership Team and Domain leads. Qualifications Education / Experience Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 10+ years of applied experience in enterprise or strategic architecture roles within complex, matrixed, or federated organizations. Demonstrated experience providing architectural oversight and strategic guidance specifically within a Cross-Domain context. Proven track record acting as a recognized leader in the architecture community, guiding others in resolving highly complex cross-functional issues. Functional & Technical Skills Complex Problem Solving: Applies excellent knowledge in two or more domain or technology areas to lead technical discussions, capability assessments, and resolve highly complex cross-functional challenges. Advanced Data & AI Expertise: Deep, applied knowledge in modern AI architectures, Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic AI patterns (e.g., Model Context Protocol integration), and scalable cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake). Cross-Domain Architecture: Proficiency in overseeing and governing Information, Technology, Business, and Application Architecture across multiple domains. Excellent knowledge of business processes, data handling, and interfaces across the life sciences value chain. Architecture Modeling: Active experience with Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM) platforms (specifically SAP LeanIX/ArchiMEDES) to map capabilities, ensure data-driven transparency, and model complex cross-domain AI integrations. Leadership & Additional Qualifications Network & Community Leadership: Demonstrated ability in leading and influencing federated networks of architects without direct reporting lines, inspiring diverse partners to act with a unified voice. Strategic Advisory & Executive Influence: Deeply connects with and understands internal business needs, successfully gathering support for new concepts. You can communicate complex architectural ideas and influence senior-level stakeholders to adopt new approaches. Enterprise Mindset: A commitment to the "One Roche" philosophy, prioritizing the success of the entire organization over individual functional silos, and fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture. What you get: Salary range 23 300 - 43 300PLN gross based on the employment contract. Annual bonus payment based on your performance. Dedicated training budget (training, certifications, conferences, diversified career paths etc.). Recharge Fridays (2 Fridays off per quarter available).
