DESCRIPTION: As a Purchasing Supervisor at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll guide and support a collaborative team while ensuring consistent supply chain execution. You'll serve as the key point of contact for purchasing activities, managing supplier relationships and driving operational excellence. Working closely with cross-functional partners, you'll optimize procurement processes, coordinate continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure timely delivery of materials to support business operations. This role offers the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. REQUIREMENTS: • Advanced Degree plus 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or related field • Preferred Fields of Study: Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field • APICS certification (CPIM, CIRM, CSCP) preferred • Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred • Experience leading and developing teams of 4-7 direct reports preferred • Strong ERP system knowledge, with SAP/AS400 experience preferred • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel • Experience with data mining tools (SQL, Cognos) preferred • Proven experience in supplier relationship management and negotiation • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for data-driven decision making • Experience implementing process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder management • Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities • Strong customer service orientation and commitment to operational excellence • Experience conducting business reviews and developing performance improvement plans • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a matrix organization • Fluency in English required; additional language skills beneficial • Strong project management and organizational skills • Proven ability to achieve measurable results
