The PositionJD - China Enterprise Technology InternCompany: Roche Organization: China Enterprise Technology (CET) Location: Shanghai, China Duration: 3–6 months Position SummaryRoche is seeking a versatile and highly motivated Enterprise Technology Intern to join our China Enterprise Technology (CET) team. In this hybrid role, you will bridge the gap between technical project management, DevOps engineering, and operations research. You will be instrumental in driving our infrastructure modernization by coordinating the large-scale migration of over 100 GitLab projects. Simultaneously, you will dive deep into scientific computing by designing a Linear Programming model to optimize GPU resource allocation for our complex, data-heavy scientific workloads (such as bioinformatics and computational chemistry). Key Responsibilities1. Project Coordination & Governance Act as the project coordinator for cross-functional IT, DevOps, and scientific computing teams within CET. Facilitate project meetings, track milestones, and manage timelines using Agile methodologies. Maintain clear documentation, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and present progress reports to technical leads and stakeholders. Identify project bottlenecks and collaborate with team members to resolve blockers efficiently. 2. Large-Scale GitLab Projects Migration Plan and execute the seamless migration of 100+ GitLab projects into a unified, secure enterprise environment. Ensure the integrity of source code, commit histories, access controls, and environment variables during the transition. Update and validate CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous integration remains uninterrupted post-migration. Create automated scripts and clear user guides to assist development teams in adapting to the new repository structures. 3. Computing Resource Optimization for Scientific Workloads Formulate a Linear Programming (LP) model to optimize the scheduling and allocation of Computing resources for intensive scientific workloads (e.g., genomics, drug discovery simulations, and AI/ML modeling). Analyze compute constraints, job priorities, memory requirements, and runtime patterns to maximize cluster throughput and minimize idle time. Implement optimization solutions using Python libraries Deliver data-driven insights and a proof-of-concept scheduling algorithm to improve the cost-efficiency of Roche’s scientific computing infrastructure. Key QualificationsEducation: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Maths, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field. DevOps & IT Skills: Experience with version control systems (Git) and an understanding of CI/CD pipelines. Programming & Math: Strong proficiency in Python and a solid foundational knowledge of mathematical optimization and Linear Programming. Project Management: Familiarity with Agile frameworks and project management tools like Jira, Confluence, or Monday. Domain Interest: A strong interest in scientific computing, healthcare technology, or bioinformatics infrastructure. Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the capacity to work independently in a dynamic environment.
