The PositionData Scientist Intern Position OverviewLocation: Shanghai/Beijing, China (Onsite) Duration: 6 months (Minimum 3 days per week) Team: CET-China AI platform & adoption We are looking for a passionate, innovative Data Scientist Intern to join our team. In this role, you will be working alongside senior AI scientists and engineers to research AI products, explore data-driven AI use cases, and develop advanced algorithms and models to solve real-world healthcare challenges. Key Responsibilities Algorithm & Model Research: Assist in researching, designing, and evaluating machine learning, deep learning, or Generative AI models tailored to specific product use cases. Data Exploration & Analysis: Dive into large-scale datasets to uncover patterns, extract meaningful features, and identify opportunities for AI-driven products. Prototyping & PoC (Proof of Concept): Build and test prototypes to validate new AI algorithms and evaluate the feasibility of cutting-edge algorithms within China AI platform & adoption ecosystem. Model Optimization: Support the evaluation, fine-tuning, and optimization of existing AI models to improve their accuracy, performance, and robustness. What We Are Looking For (Qualifications) Education: Currently pursuing a Master’s (exceptional Bachelor’s candidates will also be considered) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related highly quantitative field. Programming Skills: Solid coding skills in Python, with a strong command of standard AI/ML libraries and frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Pandas). AI Knowledge: A strong foundational understanding of machine learning algorithms, deep learning architectures, statistical modeling, and data evaluation metrics. Research Capability: Demonstrated ability to conduct independent literature reviews, read and synthesize cutting-edge AI research papers, and extract actionable insights for practical use cases. Theoretical Foundations: A deep mathematical understanding of machine learning and deep learning principles, including optimization algorithms, loss functions, linear algebra, and probability theory. You should know how models work under the hood, not just how to call their APIs. Prototyping & Frameworks: Hands-on experience with research-centric AI frameworks etc. Ability to rapidly translate academic algorithms into working prototypes or Proof of Concepts (PoCs). Experimental Design: Strong skills in designing rigorous AI experiments, selecting appropriate baseline models, establishing robust evaluation metrics, and performing comprehensive benchmark analysis. GenAI / LLM Research Experience: Deep interest or hands-on research experience in Large Language Models (LLMs), including Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT like LoRA), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) evaluation, or Agentic workflows. Paper Replication: A strong GitHub portfolio showcasing your ability to replicate algorithms from recent research papers from scratch. Languages: Full professional proficiency in both Mandarin and English (written and spoken). Reading and comprehending complex English technical papers is a daily requirement. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Product Managers, data scientists and necessary stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into actionable AI research topics and technical solutions.
