Software Quality Assurance Engineer III Position SummaryJoin our team as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer III at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where you'll help ensure the quality, reliability, and compliance of innovative software solutions that support scientific discovery and healthcare. In this role, you'll contribute to projects spanning laboratory informatics, scientific instrumentation, generative AI applications, and clinical research technologies. Working closely with software engineers, product owners, architects, and other quality professionals, you'll design and implement comprehensive testing strategies, develop and maintain automated testing frameworks, and champion quality throughout the software development lifecycle. Your work will directly contribute to delivering software that meets the highest standards of functionality, performance, security, usability, and regulatory compliance. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases for complex software systems. Develop, maintain, and improve automated test frameworks and automated regression test suites. Perform functional, integration, system, exploratory, regression, API, database, and end-to-end testing. Identify, document, prioritize, and help drive resolution of software defects through effective collaboration with development teams. Analyze test results, identify root causes of quality issues, and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to ensure quality is built into every stage of the software development lifecycle. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated testing into deployment workflows. Develop meaningful quality metrics, test reports, and release readiness assessments to support informed decision-making. Support software verification and validation activities for regulated products, ensuring compliance with applicable quality and regulatory standards. Participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and technical discussions to proactively identify quality risks. Mentor junior QA engineers and promote software quality best practices across development teams. Continuously evaluate emerging testing technologies and recommend improvements to testing processes, tools, and automation capabilities. Minimum QualificationsAdvanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Software Quality Assurance or Software Testing. Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline. Preferred QualificationsISTQB or equivalent software testing certification is considered an advantage. Strong experience with manual and automated software testing methodologies. Experience with one or more test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or Tricentis Tosca. Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages, such as Python, Java, or JavaScript. Experience testing REST APIs, backend services, databases, and distributed systems. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices. Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions. Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps Test Plans, ALM/Quality Center, or qTest. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure), containerized applications, and microservices architectures. Knowledge of software verification and validation practices within regulated environments, including GxP, FDA, or ISO-compliant development processes. Experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner is desirable. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary and globally distributed teams. Demonstrated ability to work independently, lead testing initiatives, and influence quality practices without direct authority. Strong documentation, reporting, and organizational skills.
