This Position reports to: Global IS Dep Manager for Service DM IT Application Performance Monitoring (APM) Department Manager is responsible for leading ABB's enterprise-wide Application Performance Monitoring, Observability, Event Intelligence, and Monitoring Automation capabilities. The role owns the vision, strategy, governance, service delivery, and continual improvement of monitoring services supporting critical business applications and digital platforms globally This role is a critical leadership position responsible for transforming monitoring from a reactive operational function into a strategic business capability that delivers measurable value across ABB. The APM Department Manager leads a team of APM specialists, automation engineers, and platform experts responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, performance, and operational excellence of ABB's application landscape. The work model for the role is: Hybrid 2-3 days per week at office This role is contributing to the IS Services in Global. Main stakeholders are Application Managers/Owners, Infra Managers, Technology & Platform Service Owners, BA Infra Leads, Division IS Managers. You will be mainly accountable for: Lead and develop a global team of APM engineers, monitoring specialists, platform administrators, and service providers Create and maintain a multi-year roadmap for monitoring, event management, automation, and AIOps capabilities Define and execute the enterprise APM and Observability strategy Drive adoption of observability standards across business applications and infrastructure platforms. Build technical competencies in observability engineering, automation, cloud monitoring, and AIOps Own global APM platforms including Dynatrace, OpenText, OpenTelemetry ecosystem Ensure service availability, scalability, performance, and compliance with SLAs and KPIs Manage monitoring platform contracts, licensing, and vendor relationships and drive cost optimization initiatives and maximize platform utilization Establish monitoring standards, dashboards, alerts, and operational procedures Manage departmental budgets and investment planning Ensure compliance with ABB IS policies, standards, and controls Maintain audit readiness and operational documentation Drive continual service improvement using operational analytics and performance data Establish clear performance objectives, career development plans, and succession strategies Engage with senior leadership to ensure monitoring capabilities align with business outcomes Represent monitoring services in executive governance forums and technology councils Qualifications for the role (Mandatory)Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline. 12–15+ years of IT experience. 8–10+ years in application monitoring, observability, IT operations, or performance engineering. 5+ years leading global technical teams. Experience managing enterprise application monitoring platforms at scale. Experience driving transformation and service improvement initiatives.
