JOB DESCRIPTION:About the RoleAbbott Diabetes Care is looking for a Principal Full Stack Software Engineer to join a modern software engineering team building scalable, cloud-native digital platforms. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing, building, and delivering high-quality software across the full technology stack. You will work across frontend interfaces, backend services, APIs, integrations, workflow automation, data pipelines, and production systems. The role sits within an eCommerce and enterprise application environment, supporting large-scale digital platforms and business-critical processes. We are looking for someone who combines strong software engineering fundamentals with practical experience building complex applications in large organizations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable owning features end-to-end, contributing to architectural decisions, understanding business processes, and collaborating closely with product, design, QA, operations, and business stakeholders. This is a small, high-output team where engineers are expected to take ownership, move quickly, and build reliable software that can scale. What You’ll DoAs a Principal Full Stack Software Engineer, you will: Design and build full stack features across frontend, backend, integration, and data layers. Develop scalable software for eCommerce, digital platforms, and enterprise applications. Build and maintain microservices, workflow automation, and document processing pipelines. Contribute to system architecture, technical design decisions, and platform evolution. Integrate with internal systems, external partners, and third-party platforms using REST APIs and event-driven messaging patterns. Build and maintain data transformation and migration pipelines across modern and legacy systems. Translate complex business processes into reliable, maintainable technical solutions. Write and maintain automated tests, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests. Support production systems through monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, and stability improvements. Collaborate across product, design, QA, operations, and business teams within two-week sprint cycles. Mentor peers and contribute to engineering standards, coding practices, and technical quality. Key ResponsibilitiesFull Stack Feature Delivery Own features from technical design through development, testing, deployment, and production support. You will work with a strong bias toward delivery while maintaining quality, scalability, and reliability. Architecture & Technical Design Contribute to system design and architectural decisions across frontend, backend, APIs, integrations, and data flows. Implement services using sound engineering principles and define clean API contracts and integration patterns. eCommerce & Business Process Engineering Build software that supports digital commerce, customer journeys, operational workflows, and enterprise-scale business processes. You will need to understand how business requirements translate into scalable application design. Integration & APIs Design and maintain integrations with internal platforms, external partners, and enterprise systems. This includes REST APIs, event-driven messaging, data mapping, contract validation, and complex transformation logic. Data Migration & Transformation Develop data migration, reconciliation, and transformation pipelines across modern and legacy platforms. Ensure data accuracy, reliability, and consistency across systems. Code Quality & Testing Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code. Build and maintain automated tests across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels. Participate actively in code reviews and take ownership of technical debt within your area. Operational Ownership Support production systems alongside feature development. Participate in incident response, monitoring, alerting, root cause analysis, and platform stability improvements. Collaboration & Mentorship Work closely with cross-functional teams and provide guidance to other engineers. Help strengthen team practices, engineering standards, and delivery discipline. Required Experience We are looking for someone with: 5–8+ years of professional full stack software engineering experience. Experience building production-grade backend services using technologies such as Java/Spring Boot, Kotlin, Node.js, or equivalent. Strong frontend development experience using modern JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks. Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform such as AWS or Azure. Experience with cloud services including compute, messaging, storage, and managed databases. Strong understanding of REST API design, event-driven architecture, and message-based integration patterns. Experience building or contributing to large-scale enterprise applications. Experience working on platforms involving eCommerce, CRM, CMS, digital commerce, or customer-facing systems. Strong understanding of business processes and how they translate into software design. Experience with workflow automation or orchestration tools such as Camunda, Zeebe, or similar. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices such as Terraform or equivalent. Strong testing discipline, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing. Experience with data migration, legacy system integration, transformation, and reconciliation. Track record supporting production systems, including observability, alerting, troubleshooting, and incident response. Experience managing technical delivery across cross-team, cross-functional, or cross-vendor dependencies. Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Experience The following would be advantageous: Experience in eCommerce, digital commerce, or large-scale transactional platforms. Experience working in large organizations with complex enterprise application landscapes. Experience with CRM, CMS, commerce platforms, APIs, and integration-heavy environments. BPMN workflow modelling and workflow orchestration at scale. OCR, document processing, or ML model integration in production systems. Greenfield platform build experience or experience building platforms from the ground up. Experience in healthcare, insurance, medical technology, or another regulated industry. Exposure to compliance-aware environments, including audit trails, data protection, privacy, or regulated data handling. Experience working in agile engineering teams with two-week sprint delivery cycles.
