JOB DESCRIPTION:Take Your Biomedical Science Career Beyond the Laboratory Are you a Biomedical Scientist looking to combine your laboratory expertise with cutting-edge diagnostic technology, training, and customer engagement? Abbott is seeking an enthusiastic and clinically focused Application Specialist to support healthcare laboratories across the UK. This is a unique opportunity to move beyond the laboratory bench and become a trusted technical expert, helping customers implement and optimise world-class diagnostic solutions. The Opportunity As an Application Specialist, you will partner with NHS and private laboratories to deliver training, support assay implementation, troubleshoot application issues, and ensure customers get the best possible performance from Abbott's diagnostic systems. This is a field-based position requiring significant travel across your territory. Successful candidates must be comfortable spending approximately 75% of their time visiting customer sites, including frequent overnight stays and regular weeks away from home. What You’ll Do Deliver customer training and coaching on Abbott diagnostic systems. Support new instrument installations and assay implementations. Investigate and resolve application and assay-related issues within customer laboratories. Build strong relationships with Biomedical Scientists, Laboratory Managers and Pathologists. Provide expert technical and clinical support to customers. Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. Travel extensively throughout the UK to support customer sites. Preferred Qualifications BSc in Biomedical Science, Life Sciences, Medical Technology, or a related scientific discipline. Experience working within a clinical diagnostic laboratory. Strong understanding of laboratory workflows and diagnostic testing. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Passion for training, coaching, and supporting healthcare professionals. Full UK driving licence. Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays. Ideal Experience HCPC registration. Experience in Clinical Chemistry, Immunoassay, Haematology, Blood Sciences, Molecular Diagnostics, or Pathology. Senior Biomedical Scientist or Specialist Biomedical Scientist background. Experience with laboratory analysers and diagnostic instrumentation. Customer-facing or training experience. Ready for Your Next Challenge?
