The Opportunity This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location in the Transfusion Medicine, Diagnostics Division. The Manager of Quality Assurance - Biochemistry - is responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. Manage the direct activities of an area within a department or function. Provides direct supervision to professional, direct or indirect labor staff. Ensure that plans are implemented and milestones are achieved. Ensures that compliance is maintained and that employees are trained and following the required site level policies and procedures. What You’ll Work On Lead and maintain the effectiveness of the Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements. Analyze operational and performance trends, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend corrective actions. Support financial planning, budgeting, and capital planning through data collection, analysis, and project identification. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process efficiency, cost reduction, quality enhancement, and operational excellence. Manage, coach, and develop employees through performance management, development planning, training, feedback, and recognition programs. Provide direct leadership and supervision of teams, ensuring alignment with departmental goals, objectives, and performance expectations. Foster a culture of trust, respect, accountability, collaboration, and employee engagement. Lead cross-functional projects, coordinate resources, and partner with stakeholders to implement business and operational improvements. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, labor efficiency, quality metrics, and reject rates to identify and resolve issues. Assess, recognize, and mitigate financial, quality, regulatory, operational, and people-related risks while making sound business decisions. Champion change management initiatives and promote adaptability to evolving business, regulatory, and technological environments. Build strong relationships across teams and functions, effectively influencing outcomes and driving organizational success. Communicate effectively with employees, management, customers, and regulatory agencies through presentations, training, reporting, and information sharing. Lead problem-solving efforts using data-driven methodologies and continuous improvement tools to achieve sustainable results. Promote a high-performance, customer-focused environment by motivating teams, resolving conflicts, developing talent, and ensuring achievement of business objectives. Required Qualifications BS or equivalent and 4-7 years of related operations experience. Experience should demonstrate the application of analytical and mathematical skills, and the ability to understand financial information or directly technical experience sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge typically associated with the degree and experience requirement. Preferred Qualifications BS degree in scientific, technical, or related field. Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics. Experience supervising a team. Demonstrated knowledge and testing experience of bioanalytical methods (mass spectrometry, UV-Vis and infrared spectroscopy, ddPCR, HPLC, SDS-PAGE, Capillary Electrophoresis, western/dot blot). Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects, test method optimization, and test method reliability improvements Flexibility, strong problem-solving skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, solid organizational ability, negotiations skills with ability to drive cross functional teams. The base pay for this position is $99,300.00 – $198,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
