Job Description SummarySenior Mechanical Engineer responsible for the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and systems for new and existing products. Applies advanced mechanical engineering principles, design methodologies, and problem-solving techniques to deliver innovative, reliable, and manufacturable solutions that meet performance, quality, cost, and regulatory requirements. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and global stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept and design through verification, manufacturing introduction, and field support. Contributes to technical decision-making, product integration, and continuous improvement initiatives while developing deep expertise in mechanical engineering, materials, manufacturing processes, and system-level design. Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesLead the planning, conceptualization, and development of mechanical components, subassemblies, and systems for new product development and installed-base support. Create, review, and approve engineering drawings, ensuring compliance with GD&T standards, tolerance stack-up requirements, material selection criteria, and manufacturing best practices. Perform engineering calculations, develop test plans, execute design verification activities, and lead technical design reviews to ensure robust product performance and reliability. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, contractors, and global stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. Participate in and drive all phases of the product development lifecycle, including concept generation, architecture, detailed design, prototyping, testing, documentation, manufacturing introduction, and service support. Lead the development and implementation of manufacturing processes and technologies related to metal fabrication, castings, injection molding, joining methods, and surface coating processes. Apply knowledge of industrial-grade plastics, polymers, and associated design and manufacturing principles to optimize product performance and manufacturability. Engage with customers, technical leaders, and program teams to ensure engineering deliverables are aligned with broader business, program, and product objectives. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers while supporting problem-solving and capability development within the team. Identify and drive opportunities for standardization, cost reduction, strategic sourcing, and adoption of common technology initiatives across product lines. Develop innovative and cost-effective designs that meet performance, reliability, quality, regulatory, and manufacturability requirements. Support continuous improvement initiatives through root-cause analysis, design optimization, and implementation of engineering best practices. Maintain and expand technical expertise in mechanical engineering, materials, manufacturing processes, and emerging technologies relevant to the business. Drive technical execution and ensure timely delivery of engineering milestones while balancing cost, quality, performance, and schedule objectives. Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master’s degree in Mechanical Design, Tool Design, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related Mechanical Engineering discipline. Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, product development, and engineering execution across the product lifecycle. Strong expertise in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance analysis, and tolerance stack-up methodologies for complex assemblies. Demonstrated experience in applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Cost (DFC) principles to optimize product quality, reliability, and manufacturability. Proven ability to develop mechanical designs, perform engineering calculations, create and review technical drawings, and execute design verification activities. Experience leading component and subsystem design activities from concept through validation and manufacturing release. Hands-on experience with sheet metal, plastic part design, and manufacturing processes such as injection molding, casting, machining, and fabrication. Strong understanding of material selection, manufacturing processes, product performance requirements, and reliability considerations. Experience working with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturing organizations to support product development and issue resolution. Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical, and technical decision-making skills in a product development environment. Experience working in global engineering environments, coordinating with geographically dispersed teams, suppliers, and customers. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a structured approach to technical issue resolution. Ability to influence technical direction, drive design reviews, and facilitate cross-functional alignment to achieve project objectives. Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and engineering best practices. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred, with experience applying Six Sigma methodologies to improve product quality, reliability, and process efficiency.
