Job Description: Major duties and Key Responsibilities Drive sustainable improvements in factory cost through application of lean six sigma, entitlement thinking, yield improvement, and plant productivity. Be an inspiring and effective leader. Pro-active involvement with division personnel and business teams. Ensure strong alignment of plant goals, metrics, and targets with the business/division targets. Live 3M values through all interactions with the plant population and the community. Make decisions from a global, big 3M perspective. Direct plant production and support operations. Lead plant leadership team and functional department heads. Manage site performance across EHS, quality, delivery, cost, inventory, and employee relations. Approve priorities, timetables, staffing, and operational resource assignments. Ensure manufacturing systems and processes support customer, regulatory, and business requirements. Lead crisis response and escalation management for major operational disruptions. Represent the plant in interactions with business leaders, customers, auditors, suppliers, and external stakeholders. Operational Leadership Lead all day-to-day plant operations for a medium-sized manufacturing site. Establish and execute short- to medium-term operating plans aligned with business strategy. Ensure plant performance meets targets for safety, quality, delivery, productivity, cost, and service. Coordinate production activities to ensure approved products are manufactured on schedule and within specification. Drive capacity planning, production scheduling, and resource allocation to support customer demand. Safety, Health, Environmental, and Regulatory Compliance Maintain full accountability for plant Environmental, Health, and Safety performance. Ensure compliance with corporate policies and local governmental safety, health, and environmental regulations. Promote visible EHS leadership, ownership, and accountability across the site. Ensure compliance with applicable automotive and electronics manufacturing standards, certifications, and customer requirements. Quality and Continuous Improvement Lead plant quality performance and ensure adherence to established quality systems and standards. Drive systemic improvement in quality metrics using structured problem solving, continuous improvement , and root cause corrective action methodologies. Ensure prompt resolution of customer, process, and product quality issues. Champion a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across all plant functions. Supply Chain and Materials Management Ensure strong supply chain performance through effective planning, inventory management, supplier coordination, warehousing, and logistics execution. Optimize inventory levels, including working and non-working inventory, to balance service and cost. Partner with sourcing, planning, and business teams to meet delivery , service and lead-time expectations. Support new product introductions and manufacturing readiness for automotive and electronics programs. Cost and Productivity Management Establish and manage plant budgets and operating expenses. Drive sustainable cost improvements through productivity, yield improvement, waste reduction, and process optimization. Ensure efficient use of labor, equipment, materials, and capital resources. Develop and monitor key plant performance indicators and implement actions to improve manufacturing effectiveness. People Leadership Lead, coach, and develop plant leadership and functional teams. Provide direct supervision through goal setting, performance management, coaching, training, and succession planning. Foster a high-performance, accountable, and inclusive work environment. Address employee relations issues, resolve conflicts, and ensure consistent application of policies and procedures. Build organizational capability to support current and future business needs. Strategic and Cross-Functional Leadership Participate in business and operations strategic planning and provide recommendations to leadership. Translate business goals into plant priorities, metrics, and execution plans. Collaborate with engineering, quality, supply chain, maintenance, product management, and commercial partners to support business growth. Identify and support implementation of new technologies, process improvements, and capital projects. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or related field required from reputed Institutes. Master’s degree/MBA preferred. Overall experience 20 + Years in automotive and/or electronics manufacturing environments preferred. Typically, 7–10+ years of relevant manufacturing leadership experience, including leadership in plant operations. Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams in production, quality, engineering, maintenance, materials, and EHS. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of plant operations, manufacturing systems, and industrial processes. Understanding of automotive and electronics quality and operational requirements. Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills. Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, and structured problem solving. Strong financial and budget management capability. Ability to analyze complex operational issues and make sound decisions with broad business impact. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong change management, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills. Knowledge of ERP/MRP, manufacturing systems, quality systems, various certifications , and related business tools. Scope and Impact Accountable for performance of a medium-sized manufacturing plant. Decisions impact plant operations and may affect multiple business areas, customers, and supply chain partners. Leads multiple functions and manages site-level priorities, budgets, and operational performance. Contributes directly to customer satisfaction, business profitability, and operational competitiveness.
