Job description

Our world is transforming, and PTC is leading the way. Our software brings the physical and digital worlds together, enabling companies to improve operations, create better products, and empower people in all aspects of their business. Our people make all the difference in our success. Today, we are a global team of nearly 7,000 and our main objective is to create opportunities for our team members to explore, learn, and grow – all while seeing their ideas come to life and celebrating the differences that make us who we are and the work we do possible. Principal, PLM Product Marketing Location: Boston, MA Are you a seasoned product marketing professional who has lived and breathed Product Lifecycle Management — and wants to shape how the world’s leading manufacturers think about it? PTC is looking for a Senior Principal, PLM Product Marketing to join our PLM product marketing team and drive strategic messaging, positioning, and go-to-market execution for key areas of our industry-leading PLM portfolio. You’ll also collaborate with teammates across the product marketing organization to develop cross-portfolio solution stories that connect PLM to PTC’s broader technology ecosystem. This is a high-impact individual contributor role for someone who combines deep PLM domain expertise with the strategic marketing instincts to influence how enterprise buyers evaluate, adopt, and expand their use of PLM technology — and who embraces emerging tools and approaches, including AI, to continuously sharpen how they research, create, and go to market. Why This Role Matters PTC’s PLM portfolio — anchored by Windchill and extending across our cloud, SaaS, and AI-driven capabilities — is at the center of how the world’s most complex manufacturers manage the digital thread from engineering to the factory floor and beyond. The market is evolving fast: AI, SaaS transformation, and the convergence of engineering disciplines demand marketers who don’t just understand PLM, but can articulate where it’s going and why PTC leads. Shape the PLM narrative. As part of the PLM product marketing team, you’ll play a central role in defining how PTC’s PLM solutions are positioned against competitors and perceived by the market — from analysts and press to buyers and practitioners. Bridge product to portfolio. PLM doesn’t exist in isolation. Working alongside teammates across the product marketing organization, you’ll help craft cross-portfolio solution stories that connect PLM to CAD, ALM, SLM, and IoT — translating integrated product engineering into compelling value propositions for discrete manufacturers. Influence at the highest levels. As a Senior Principal, you’ll operate as a trusted strategic advisor to product leadership, sales executives, and senior marketing leaders — contributing to roadmap narratives, campaign strategy, and competitive positioning. Raise the bar. Your expertise, frameworks, and deliverables will help elevate how PTC approaches product marketing across the PLM team and beyond. What You’ll Do Strategic Messaging & Positioning Develop differentiated messaging and positioning for key areas of PTC’s PLM portfolio that resonate with engineering leaders, IT decision-makers, and C-suite executives across target industries (Automotive, Aerospace & Defense, Industrial Equipment, Medical Devices, Electronics & High-Tech). Collaborate with product marketing teammates to build cross-portfolio solution narratives that articulate the value of PLM in the context of PTC’s broader technology ecosystem — including integrated product engineering, digital thread, and AI-driven workflows. Go-to-Market Execution Drive GTM strategy and execution for PLM product launches, feature releases, and platform milestones within your focus areas — from positioning and campaign themes to launch readiness and post-launch optimization. Partner with Growth Marketing and Demand Generation to develop campaign strategies that drive pipeline acceleration and customer engagement across industry verticals and geographies. Competitive & Market Intelligence Conduct deep competitive analysis and market research to inform positioning, identify whitespace opportunities, and equip the organization with actionable intelligence on market shifts, buyer behavior, and competitive threats. Serve as a key PLM market expert within PTC — engaging with analysts (Gartner, IDC, Forrester), press, and industry influencers to strengthen PTC’s market position. Sales Enablement & Customer Advocacy Design and deliver high-impact sales enablement materials — battle cards, solution guides, competitive comparisons, and presentation assets — that equip sellers to win in your focus areas. Develop buyer personas, buying journey maps, and customer proof points that accelerate deal velocity and improve win rates. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Product Management to translate roadmap capabilities into market-facing value propositions and ensure customer and market insights flow back into product strategy. Work closely with Industry Advisors, Solutions Marketing, and Customer Success to ensure PLM narratives are grounded in real-world customer outcomes and aligned with industry-specific GTM motions. Collaborate with fellow product marketers on the PLM team and across the portfolio to ensure consistency, share best practices, and deliver cohesive messaging to the market. What You Bring Must-Have 8+ years of experience in product marketing, solutions marketing, or GTM strategy roles within B2B enterprise software — with significant depth in PLM, engineering software, or adjacent manufacturing technology domains. Deep PLM domain expertise. You understand the PLM landscape — the technology, the buyers, the competitive dynamics, and the industry workflows. Ideally, you’ve worked at a PLM software vendor or in a PLM-adjacent role at a discrete manufacturer. Proven ability to develop strategic messaging and positioning that differentiates in competitive enterprise markets — not just feature/function marketing, but narrative-level storytelling that moves markets. Experience with portfolio-level and solution-level marketing — you can zoom out from a single product to craft integrated solution stories that connect across a technology portfolio. Track record of influencing without authority — you’ve partnered with product leaders, sales executives, and senior marketers to drive alignment and outcomes across complex organizations. Strong analytical skills — comfortable synthesizing market data, customer insights, competitive intelligence, and business metrics into actionable marketing strategy. Exceptional communication skills — written, verbal, and visual. You can build a compelling executive presentation, write a crisp analyst brief, and deliver a persuasive product narrative to a room of senior leaders. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, or a related field. Nice-to-Have MBA or advanced degree. Demonstrated experience leveraging AI and generative AI tools to accelerate product marketing workflows — from market research and competitive analysis to narrative development, content creation, and campaign optimization. We’re looking for someone who sees AI not just as a topic they market, but as a tool that transforms how they work. Experience marketing cloud/SaaS transformation of traditionally on-premise enterprise software. Familiarity with adjacent technology domains — CAD, ALM, Simulation, IoT, SLM — and how they intersect with PLM. Background in one or more target industries: Automotive, Aerospace & Defense, Industrial Equipment, Medical Devices, Electronics & High-Tech. Experience with analyst relations (Gartner, IDC, Forrester) and competitive benchmarking frameworks. Hands-on experience with PLM platforms (Windchill, Teamcenter, Enovia, Arena, or similar).
