The Opportunity This is a role based in Bogotá, Colombia. The Cyber Incident Responder Sr Specialist leads end-to-end response for complex cybersecurity incidents, ensuring effective containment, eradication, and recovery. This position provides technical leadership and continuously enhances incident response processes, tools, and strategies to address evolving threats. The role drives proactive threat detection and collaborates across teams to strengthen security posture while mentoring junior analysts. What You’ll Do • Monitor and respond to cyber-based threats to Abbott and deploy countermeasures as needed. • Use security technologies and tools, such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint detection and response (EDR), and Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) tools to protect the enterprise. • Participate in threat hunting missions and remediate gaps that are identified. • Contribute to the development of detections using MITRE ATT&CK and Cyber Kill chain frameworks. • Automate manual tasks through technology integrations via scripting and orchestration of playbooks. • Support the advancement of Abbott’s cyber threat intelligence and vulnerability management programs to ensure consistent detection, analysis, response, and monitoring of cybersecurity threats including actors, campaigns and vulnerabilities. • Compose and deliver Situation Reports for key stakeholders. • Participate in cross-team coordination to achieve defined security goals as well as meet technical requirements in support of detailed implementation plans for security projects. • Perform assessment of cybersecurity incidents to identify the root cause, respond, and recover the environment. • Contribute to the development and refinement of metrics packages. • Mentor, train, and support team members as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or similar area; or equivalent work experience. 4 years of technical experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC), incident response, or cybersecurity-related role. Demonstrated experience with security monitoring and investigation tools (e.g., SIEM such as Splunk, EDR platforms, email security tools). Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, enterprise security controls and frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK. Strong written and verbal communication skills; must be able to effectively communicate to all levels of staff up to executive-level management, customers (internal and external), and vendors. Preferred Qualifications GIAC (GICSP, GRID, GCIH, GSEC, GCFA, GREM), OSCP or equivalent certifications preferred. Experience mentoring, training, and supporting cybersecurity team members. Experience with threat hunting, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and incident response activities. Experience contributing to detection development using MITRE ATT&CK and Cyber Kill chain frameworks. Knowledge of scripting and automation to support technology integrations and orchestration of playbooks.
