This Position reports to: Sales Support Manager JOB PROFILE SUMMARY Solution Expert is responsible for proposing and promoting the best combination of ABB’s technologies to our GKAs, based on ABB’s product and solution portfolio. In this role, you will perform the research and development on new technologies and market trends necessary to tackle complex assembly and automation problems that have direct impact to the production automation and delivery of our GKA’s products. Our Solution Experts will also design, implement and successfully scale automated and semi- automated solutions based upon sound engineering principles and the technologies developed for a specific application. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Develop new and or improved processes through the application of theoretical and practical engineering Keeps abreast of all meaningful technical trends and developments and incorporates them in appropriate assignments Provide direction and mentorship to third party machine/automation suppliers and/or ecosystem partners; be the technical leader and driver on owned projects; serve as a technical DRI to other engineering groups and project leaders Organize cross-functional reviews of the solution requirements, design, qualification and capability Create and present design proposals (DFx) that documents the design architecture of the automated solution, technical approach, customer value added and qualification for feasibility on MVP/NPI Engage ecosystem partners for solution design reviews and technical proposals Travel with KAMs to the GKAs site for solution proposing, technical promotion, continues improving and support during MVP/NPI events Drive machine qualification including correlation, process capability (CP/CPK) and Gage Repeatability / Reproducibility (GR&R), to prepare for solution productization Drive failure analysis and machine issue resolution when working with ecosystem partners to run equipment experiments to bound the capability of the machine Responsible for data analysis reports to communicate solution capability to the multi-functional teams Works all phases of a engineering solution from concept to productization to end of life. Provides production support engineering with respect to technically complex testing methods, procedures and failure analysis. Lead the planning and implementation of technical roadshows and exhibition demos, ensuring events are completed according to outlined objectives. Oversee quality assurance and ensure objectives are met LICENSE TO OPERATE / CORE VALUES Faster and pro-active learning skills for all new technology across different fields Knowledgeable in crafting machine qualification requirements, design of experiments and failure analysis Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills, able to communicate effectively in a worldwide environment Understands industrial technologies including calibration, correlation, capability, repeatability and reproducibility. Working knowledge of robotics (6-axis and/or SCARA), pneumatics, servo motors, motion controllers, PLCs and PC-based control systems. Knowledge of optics principles as they relate to CCD/RGB-D/3D cameras, 2D and 1D lasers, and their use for positioning and critical alignment machines Basic understanding on financial, business development, value proposition and ROI calculation Ability to Travel appropriately 35% COLLABORATION / LEADERSHIP Collaborations with internal RnD teams/product teams/Execution teams, communications with external suppliers/strategic partners/start-ups to meet the project objective. Weekly/Bi-weekly executive presentations/reports to project steco-members and global management team. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExcellent English skills, second foreign language is a plus (Japanese/Korean/Spanish) Product and Portfolio Management New product introduction and Manufacturing Operations experience – 5+ years Master’s degree in engineering, QS top 200 Basic understanding of Phyical AI, Synethic data, world model CAD, SolidWorks or Omniverse, RobotStudio experiences Working knowledge of GD&T principles We value people from different backgrounds.
