Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions (SMR) is a leading supplier in equipment and tools, services and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries. Our application areas include rock drilling, rock cutting, crushing, and screening, loading, and hauling, tunnelling, quarrying, and breaking and demolition. To our Rock Tools division and the Production Unit in Patancheru, we are now looking for a Deputy Manager – Materials Management to join us. Your scope: Responsible to lead team of engineers for end-to-end materials planning and execution covering Direct Purchases, Subcontracting, Sourcing, warehouse operations, and inventory control, leveraging SAP S/4 HANA MM and EWM/WM. The role ensures right-first-time material availability at optimal cost, with high-quality, compliant, and traceable material flows across procurement, warehousing, production, and subcontractors aligning with organizational goals and compliance standards. To be more specific, your main responsibilities to handle in this position are: Ensure safe working practices across all activities, processes, and projects in full compliance with Sandvik EHS policies and procedures. Adhere to ISO 9001, OHSAS 18000, ISO 14001, SMRT procedures, and Group Internal Controls. Lead, mentor, and develop the team across purchasing, subcontracting, sourcing, warehousing, and logistics. Maintain master data accuracy in SAP S/4 HANA for purchase processes, including material master views, info records, source lists, quotas, PIRs, and scheduling agreements. Analyse MRP outputs to guarantee timely availability of parts and components as per standard BOM for planned production. Execute the PR-to-PO cycle, including PO creation, release, confirmations, and delivery scheduling. Plan and monitor material issues to subcontractors, ensuring contract compliance, rate adherence, taxation (GST), and e-way bill/documentation as per local regulations. Manage supplier performance in terms of delivery, pricing, and lead times; reconcile GR/IR and resolve invoice blocks with Accounts Payable. Oversee goods issue and goods receipt postings, manage put away, picking, replenishment, HU management, and bin-level inventory in EWM/WM, including RF transactions where applicable. Monitor stock provided to suppliers and maintained accurate inventory levels. Identify and mitigate supply risks such as shortages, quality alerts, and logistics disruptions through structured escalation and contingency planning. Collaborate closely with PP, FI, Production, and Planning teams for seamless process integration. Generate reports on purchasing activities, inventory status, and supplier performance. Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels in coordination with the Planning team. Align planning parameters with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Finance; manage engineering changes (ECNs) to minimize obsolescence. Support and track new product development initiatives. Control OSMI and ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counting and periodic stock audits. Meet customer demand, minimize costs, and achieve KPIs as per the annual performance plan (DTH Bits & Hammers / RC Hammers / Rotary Tools / Top Hammer Bits). Configure, implement, and maintain SAP S/4HANA MM and EWM/WM modules, including master data management; troubleshoot SAP issues and identify process inefficiencies. Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly meetings with Production, Planning, and Manufacturing teams. Ensure accurate reporting and data analytics by developing and generating KPIs on purchasing, subcontracting, inventory levels, and schedule adherence using SAP S/4HANA data; enable data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement. Lead end-to-end sourcing activities for manufacturing materials, components, and services aligned with production requirements. Float RFQs perform technical and commercial analysis, and drive supplier selection. Negotiate pricing, contracts, and long-term agreements to achieve cost savings and value optimization Support New Product Development (NPD/NPI) through supplier identification, prototype sourcing, and cost estimation Maintain SAP compliance and audit-ready documentation. Develop and maintain technical documentation and SOPs related to Materials Management. Your profile: Our candidate should have 12 years of experience in Direct Purchases, Subcontracting, Sourcing, warehouse operations, and inventory control, and SAP S/4 HANA MM, EWM and PP modules with relevant experience from a Manufacturing Engineering Industry A Graduate Engineer within Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering is required. You have previously worked with strong EHS cultured organizations, and you understand the importance of a diverse workforce and collaborative settings Competencies that we find necessary are: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes in engineering industries, including machining, heat treatment, and subcontracting, with expertise in discrete manufacturing, shop floor control, and resource utilization. Hands-on experience in materials management covering purchasing, subcontracting, warehouse operations, and logistics. Proficient in SAP S/4HANA ERP, with deep expertise in MM, EWM, and PP modules, including MRP execution and inventory control. Skilled in end-to-end EWM/WM transactions, with a solid grasp of BOM management, component staging, and consumption processes. Comprehensive knowledge of planning strategies, planning horizons, and risk mitigation techniques for dynamic supply chain environments. Expertise in inventory control methods and maintaining optimal stock levels to support production continuity. Proficient in planning and scheduling tools, and advanced use of MS Excel and Power BI for KPI tracking, trend analysis, and data-driven decision-making. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify bottlenecks and implement effective solutions. Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills for seamless collaboration with cross-functional and global teams. Excellent organizational and time-management capabilities to handle multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines. Highly adaptable with a proactive approach toward continuous improvement and operational excellence.
