This position reports to: Local Division Manager __ Your role and responsibilities In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape ABB's competitive strategy in Australia's electric motors market — moving beyond price-based competition to building a defensible, specification-driven market position. Each day, you will engage with key end-users and engineering contractors (EPCs) across Australia's mining, oil & gas, and water & wastewater sectors, influencing project specifications and building long-term strategic relationships that drive market penetration and sustainable revenue growth for ABB's motor portfolio. This is not a traditional sales role. You will operate at the strategic level — working with asset owners, engineers, and decision-makers well before projects go to market, positioning ABB as the preferred motor and drive solutions partner of choice. You will have the autonomy to define your own account strategy, build your own network, and directly shape ABB's market share trajectory in Australia over the coming years. The work model for the role is: Hybrid This role is contributing to the IEC LV Motors and Motors & Generators Divisions in Australia. You will be mainly accountable for: Building and managing strategic relationships with key end-users and EPCs in mining, oil & gas, and water & wastewater sectors, influencing motor specifications for upcoming capital projects and greenfield sites Developing and executing a market influence strategy that positions ABB's motor solutions as the preferred specification for target accounts across Australia Creating and managing a long-term opportunity pipeline; driving frame agreement negotiations and approved vendor list placements with key end-users and EPCs Collaborating across ABB's LV IEC Motors and Motors & Generators divisions to deliver a unified, portfolio-wide value proposition to market You will join a passionate, commercially driven team that is committed to growing ABB's presence in Australia's industrial motors market. This is a newly created, high-visibility role with direct exposure to divisional leadership and a genuine opportunity to influence go-to-market strategy from the ground up. You will work closely with both the LV IEC Motors and Motors & Generators sales teams, acting as the bridge between ABB's technical product capabilities and the engineers and asset owners who specify them. For the right person, this role offers a clear pathway to broader leadership responsibility as ABB's motors business grows. Qualifications for the role You have 8+ years of experience in market development, technical sales, or strategic account management within the electric motors, drives, or broader industrial equipment market, with a demonstrated track record of building end-user and EPC relationships You are highly skilled in specification influence and consultative selling — you understand how capital projects are developed, how specifications are written, and how to position a premium technical solution against lower-cost competitors You are immersed in Australia's industrial market — particularly mining, oil & gas, or water & wastewater — and bring an established network of end-user and/or EPC contacts you can leverage from day one You are passionate about technical solutions and possess strong product knowledge across electric motors and/or variable speed drives; you can confidently articulate total cost of ownership, efficiency, and reliability benefits to senior engineering and procurement stakeholders You hold a degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred) or demonstrate equivalent experience through a business or technical qualification combined with strong industry knowledge You are at ease communicating in English, with outstanding presentation and relationship-building skills that allow you to engage credibly at all levels — from site engineers to C-suite executives You hold a current Australian driver's licence valid in your state of residence; this role requires regular travel across Australia to visit end-users, EPCs, and project sites What's in it for you?
