Job Overview We are looking for an R&D Scientist to join our Chemistry Research & Development team and support the development of next-generation chromatography materials and related technologies. This is a laboratory-based role for a scientist who enjoys designing experiments, generating data, and using chemistry to solve product and performance challenges. You will work on materials and chemistry questions that influence chromatography performance, product quality, and future innovation. Depending on project needs, this may include work related to particle technologies, surface modification, material characterization, and chromatography applications. This role is a strong fit for someone curious, hands-on, and motivated to translate scientific ideas into practical solutions. What You Will Do Design, execute, and analyze laboratory experiments related to chemistry, materials, and chromatography performance Investigate technical challenges and identify opportunities to improve product performance Support the development and characterization of new materials, chemistries, and approaches used in chromatography products Evaluate column and material performance using laboratory methods and analytical techniques Troubleshoot technical issues through structured experimentation and data-driven problem solving Interpret results and translate findings into clear recommendations for project teams Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) Present scientific findings to colleagues, cross-functional teams, and project stakeholders Collaborate with international R&D teams on development programs and innovation projects Contribute to continuous improvement, scientific learning, and new technology development Ensure work is completed in line with safety, quality, and environmental requirements Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field or Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant industry or research experience What Will Help You Succeed Strong hands-on laboratory skills and confidence working with chemicals, materials, and laboratory instrumentation Ability to independently plan, run, and interpret experiments Scientific problem-solving mindset with strong troubleshooting skills Experience working with analytical techniques and laboratory equipment Ability to organize, document, and communicate scientific work clearly Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality Comfortable working across multiple priorities and adapting to evolving project needs Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with international teams Preferred Experience Experience in one or more of the following areas: chromatography or separation science particle technologies surface chemistry or surface modification materials characterization consumables or lab product development Experience evaluating product or material performance in an R&D setting Familiarity with data analysis, programming, or scientific software tools Exposure to innovation processes, intellectual property, or patent generation What we offer Annual performance bonus and additional financial benefits Comprehensive health package, including private health, life, and accident insurance Wellbeing support for employees and their family members, including mental health consultations, health check-ups, vaccinations, and on-site health initiatives Opportunities for professional growth through internal training, access to Thermo Fisher e-University, and continuous development The opportunity to work in a global, innovation-driven organization and collaborate with international teams Daily benefits such as subsidized meals, gym access, and company transportation An inclusive and supportive culture, with team events and community initiatives 2 additional paid volunteering days per year Compensation The monthly salary range estimated for this position based in Lithuania is €2 183,33–€3 270,83.
