This Position reports to: Integrated reporting BI Delivery Lead Your role and responsibilitiesWe are seeking a highly experienced SAP BI & SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) Solution Architect to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge SAP technologies, including SAP BW/4HANA and SAP Analytics Cloud, and to play a key role in enabling data-driven decision making across our global business. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design and implementation of scalable, high-performance SAP BW/4HANA and SAC solutions that address complex business requirements. You will leverage your deep technical expertise and architectural leadership to build robust, future-ready BI platforms, ensuring high quality, performance, and long-term sustainability. You will partner closely with business stakeholders, functional architects, and cross-functional delivery teams to translate business and financial requirements into effective system designs and configurations. The role also involves providing strategic guidance, influencing BI architecture decisions, and delivering tailored analytics solutions that support business transformation initiatives. This position requires strong functional knowledge of finance data and processes, along with the ability to align technical solutions with business outcomes. You will collaborate extensively with external vendors and internal teams to continuously evolve the analytics landscape, while ensuring compliance with ABB's enterprise architecture standards, governance, and best practices. The location of the role is in Bangalore, India. The work model for the role is: Hybrid This role is contributing to the Finance, Process, Data and Systems in Bengaluru, India. You will be mainly accountable for:SAP BI Architecture & Hands-on Development Own the hands-on architecture, design, and implementation of SAP BW/4HANA and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) solutions. Develop and optimize ADSOs (Standard, Write Optimized, Corporate Memory), Composite Providers, Open ODS Views, and InfoObjects, leveraging HANA-optimized modeling patterns. Apply LSA++ principles to ensure scalable, reusable, and future-proof BI architectures. Code-Level Data Transformation & Modeling Design and implement complex transformation logic using BW Transformation Framework, HANA SQLScript, AMDP (Managed Database Procedures), and ABAP routines. Optimize data flows using push-down techniques to SAP HANA for improved performance, reduced data latency, and efficient processing of large financial datasets. Source System Integration & Data Acquisition Lead data acquisition from common source systems including SAP S/4HANA (FI, CO, AA, ML, Group Reporting) using ODP, CDS Views, and Extractors, as well as SAP ECC, SAP BPC, and SAP BusinessObjects Universes where applicable. Integrate non-SAP sources such as flat files, databases (via DB Connect), APIs, and cloud-based sources using Open ODS Views and SDA. Process Chains & Data Load Orchestration Design, build, and optimize BW Process Chains, including delta management, error handling, reprocessing strategies, and monitoring. Ensure robust scheduling, dependency management, and recovery mechanisms to support business-critical reporting cycles. Analytics, Queries & Visualization Develop BW Queries (BEx/Query Designer) with optimized calculations, restricted/key figures, hierarchies, variables, and exits to support enterprise reporting. Design and deliver SAC models, stories, and analytic applications, leveraging live and acquired connections, calculated measures, and advanced analytics features while ensuring query and story performance. Testing, Validation & Performance Tuning Perform unit testing, SIT, and UAT with a strong focus on data validation, reconciliation, and financial accuracy. Conduct performance tuning at query, transformation, and model levels—using aggregations, partitioning strategies, and data volume optimization techniques. Validate authorization concepts using BW Analysis Authorizations and SAC role models. System Optimization & Best Practices Continuously evaluate BI solutions to identify opportunities for code simplification, automation, and performance optimization. Drive adoption of SAP BW/4HANA and SAC best practices, reduce data redundancy, and ensure high availability, security, and system stability. Governance, Documentation & Compliance Maintain detailed technical documentation covering architecture designs, data models, transformation logic, SQL/AMDP code, process chains, queries, and SAC content. Ensure compliance with ABB enterprise architecture standards, transport governance, and audit/regulatory requirements. Troubleshooting & Technical Leadership Act as the hands-on SAP BI Subject Matter Expert, leading deep-dive analysis and resolution of complex issues related to data inconsistencies, load failures, performance bottlenecks, and integration defects. Collaborate closely with functional architects, BASIS, security teams, and external vendors to deliver durable, high-quality solutions. License to Operate Ensure compliance with ABB's integrity, data privacy, GDPR, and safety standards and the core values of ABB in the assigned area. Qualifications for the roleRequirements - Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline. Relevant certifications in SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud, or equivalent SAP BI modules are preferred. Experience: Professional Background Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in SAP Business Intelligence environments; 7+ years of extensive experience in SAP BI architecture, solution design, and enterprise analytics implementations. SAP BI Expertise Proven expertise across SAP BI technologies, including SAP BW/BW4HANA, SAP HANA, SAP BusinessObjects, and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC). Data Modeling & ETL Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and enterprise data warehousing concepts. S/4HANA Integration Experience with SAP S/4HANA and integration with other SAP modules is highly desirable. End-to-End Solution Design Demonstrated ability to design end-to-end BI solutions, encompassing data extraction, transformation, modeling, and visualization. Analytical Skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and data accuracy. Additional Qualities: Experience in supporting large-scale finance transformation projects is a plus. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
