Job Description: Learn to work with and mechanically manipulate small relay components under 10X–20X stereo magnification using small tools, tweezers, flat shims, and seal force gram gauges. Learn to operate relay adjust-test stations to adjust electrical performance parameters by mechanically manipulating and tuning contact brackets, movable blades, contact gaps, pick-up/drop-out voltages, contact bounce and lag, contact pressures, and overtravel. Learn how to magnetize relay permanent magnets and set transfer voltages at adjustment stations within required specifications. Re-magnetize and fine-tune relay performance parameters, as required, to ensure compliance with build specifications. Study and become familiar with adjustment processes and procedures for a wide variety of custom and QPL relay topologies. Fabricate certain relay assemblies, which may include contact assembly, first and second framing, vacuum baking, enclosure pressing, and preliminary electrical testing. Perform the micro-clean process, as required and applicable, for space-grade relays. Read, comprehend, and follow detailed work instructions, specifications, and process documentation. Maintain quality, accuracy, and consistency while performing repetitive and highly detailed work. Follow all clean room procedures, safety requirements, and required use of personal protective equipment. Requirements/Qualifications: 0–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to work with small components and perform detailed work requiring strong hand-eye coordination. Ability to multi-task while maintaining careful attention to detail. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Basic computer, math, and reading comprehension skills. Strong listening skills. Ability to adapt to frequent changes, process improvements, and evolving production requirements. Regular and predictable attendance is essential. Ability to wear required protective equipment. Preferred Qualifications3–5 years of experience working with very small components under a 10X stereo microscope or similar magnification equipment. Prior experience in precision assembly, relay manufacturing, clean room manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, or similar high-detail production environment. Experience using small hand tools, tweezers, shims, measurement tools, or precision test equipment. Essential Physical Functions and Working ConditionsJob requires approximately 90% of time sitting and working under a microscope or magnification scope. Work is performed in a 100K class clean room environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, position, and manipulate small components. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items weighing less than 5 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Manual dexterity is essential for successful performance in this role. Ability to work for extended periods on highly detailed tasks requiring concentration, accuracy, and visual focus.
