Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes. Job Overview The Director, HCC Colombia/Costa Rica serves as the Healthcare Compliance Officer for Colombia and Costa Rica (Project Epsilon), providing end-to-end strategic and operational compliance leadership for DePuy Synthes’ Orthopedics business. This role partners closely with country/site leadership, Global Services, Legal, business and functional stakeholders, and regional and global Compliance teams to ensure ethical business conduct, effective risk management, and adherence to applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and company policies. This is a highly visible leadership role with significant impact, playing a critical role in safeguarding the organization’s reputation while enabling compliant, sustainable business growth across a complex and evolving regulatory environment. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary Healthcare Compliance Officer for Colombia and Costa Rica (Project Epsilon). Lead the development and execution of healthcare compliance strategies aligned with global and regional priorities. Identify, assess, and manage compliance risks related to commercial, promotional, professional education, government interactions, Global Services, supply chain and other business and operational activities. Provide proactive guidance and strategic advice to senior business leaders on healthcare compliance requirements and ethical decision‑making. Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to embed effective compliance controls into business processes and operating models. Oversee compliance programs, including training, monitoring, risk assessments, and issue management activities Partner with Legal and other functions to support investigations, audits, and regulatory or health authority interactions. Monitor regulatory developments and industry trends across Colombia and Costa Rica/Epsilon markets to anticipate and address emerging compliance risks. Prepare and present compliance risk assessments, insights, and recommendations to country, site, functional, regional, and senior leadership. Foster a strong culture of integrity, accountability, and speak‑up across the organization. Qualifications Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Compliance, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Preferred: Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., Compliance, Legal, Risk, or Ethics‑related). Experience and Skills Required: 10–12+ years of progressive experience in healthcare compliance, legal, risk management, audit, or related fields. Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance laws, regulations, and enforcement practices applicable to Colombia and Costa Rica. Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading teams or managing complex, multi‑country compliance programs. Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive compliant decision‑making in highly regulated environments. Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and effective decision‑making and problem‑solving capabilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex compliance topics clearly and credibly. Preferred: Experience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or broader life sciences industries. Prior experience supporting Colombia and/or Latin America compliance programs within a multinational or global organization. Familiarity with compliance investigations, monitoring, remediation, and regulatory inspections. Experience operating in highly matrixed, multicultural organizations. Strong change management and influencing capabilities. Other Language: Fluency in English and Spanish required. Travel: Up to 20–30%, primarily within Colombia and Epsilon markets, with some regional travel. Certifications: Compliance, legal, or ethics certifications preferred but not required.
