The PositionAs part of Pharma Technical Operations (PT), PT MSAT, Engineering & Sustainability (PTT) plays a key role in leading a seamless industrialization and thorough technical product management through integrating SHE, proactive maintenance, facility fitness, performance optimization and scalable manufacturing processes and technologies in support of the manufacturing network. Product and process robustness, efficiency and reliability are key performance indicators, PTT owns and drives towards improvement. As a Global Sustainability Manager, you drive significant transformation by initiating and leading innovative programs, ensuring sustainability is embedded across all PT operations and demonstrating value and impact on the environment, society, and economy. You hold the decision authority and accountability for driving the Eco-balance Action Plans (EAP) across the PT network, setting the network standard to meet Roche’s ambition to reduce its total environmental impact by half. You inspire the PT community by combining deep sustainability expertise with technology insight to champion impactful programs like the race to zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (SBTi), energy efficiency, water stewardship, and circularity. The OpportunityYou are recognized internally as a global authority and change agent in sustainability for Pharma Technical Operations (PT), and some of your responsibilities include: Lead the global program for Pharma division sites to achieve the Zero GHG emissions goal by 2050, defining the network standard for innovative and state-of-the-art technologies while meeting K6 directive requirements to eliminate halogenated hydrocarbons affecting the ozone layer and climate and drive an effective, cross-functional, data-driven governance process, acting as a key-player for strategic alignment, investment approvals, and visibility for the EAP portfolio status. Anticipate organizational and industry issues, combining strategic clarity with innovative capabilities to recommend and lead improvements and changes. Partner and advise Group SHE on strategic alignment and environmental sustainability goal settings. Maintain a consolidated roadmap and lead lifecycle management/modernization for the Pharma division (PT focus) to meet energy/carbon reduction and resource/circularity goals. Develop and deploy sustainable technology standards and actively monitor their application and performance for successful project outcomes globally. Act as the global expert to align and prioritize the EAP portfolio by closely collaborating with all PT functions globally and solve unique or unprecedented technical problems by governing complex technical analyses, external benchmarking, and developing business cases for new sustainability technologies to be deployed to sites globally. Lead and expand the global Community of Practice (CoP) Energy/Water, acting as the focal point for knowledge sharing and developing skills across the technical function. Who you areYou are experienced leader willing to collaborate across global sites and diverse functions to directly advance Roche’s key sustainability goals, making a daily impact on a mission that helps save our planet. Recognized internal expert with an Engineering or Science BS or MS (preferred) and a minimum of 12 years of experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, or SHE. Biotech or chemical industry experience is preferred, with industrial experience in construction, building automation, HVAC, energy management, and sustainability being an asset. Proven ability to strongly influence, facilitate groups with diverse perspectives, and bring teams to consensus/alignment. Demonstrates strong strategic thinking and systems thinking to manage end-to-end process intersections and weigh enterprise-level risks. Highly innovative, effective in solution development, and able to apply out-of-the-box thinking and pragmatism to anticipate business trends. Deep expertise and strong knowledge of corporate directives concepts and global/local legislations related to energy and resource conservation and sustainability. Proficiency in English (written & spoken) is required; German language skills are considered an asset. Expectation for domestic and international travel: up to 20% Ready for the next step?
