At Roche you can show up as yourself, embraced for the unique qualities you bring. Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections, where you are valued, accepted and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters. The Position Have you ever wondered how therapeutic proteins are developed? And did you know that Roche covers the entire value chain of such medicines, from discovery to manufacturing, at Europe's largest biotech site in Penzberg? Our department of Bioprocess Research is part of Large Molecule Research (LMR) and pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) unit. This is where the technical development of promising drug candidates begins. Specifically, at Bioprocess Research we develop production processes for monoclonal antibodies and next generation biologics like multispecific antibodies and recombinant adeno-associated viral vectors (rAAV). We are responsible for the development of the upstream (cell culture) and downstream (purification) processes and work very closely with cell line development and protein/rAAV analytical teams. Your internship During your internship you will be working hands-on with our scientists, engineers and lab associates and will learn and apply cutting-edge technologies for process development, cell line development as well as the corresponding analytical methods. You will have the opportunity to test new workflows or improve existing methods. You might also be contributing to the development and implementation of new technologies inspired by synthetic biology approaches or use state-of-the-art data analysis tools to learn from the results and present your findings in a team. You will participate in regular meetings to track the progress of your project and will have the opportunity to present to colleagues from Roche sites other than Penzberg. What matters to us Team-player: You are keen on collaborating with people, you enjoy helping others and accept help offered to you by your colleagues. You value advice from more experienced colleagues and use it to fuel your own growth but at the same time you're not afraid to challenge their established views Courage: You are willing to take responsibility and ownership of your project. You tackle problems with curiosity and are not afraid of trying out new approaches Continuous learning: You are enthusiastic about the challenges of new tasks and are self-motivated to come out with solutions. You see setbacks as an opportunity to learn and improve Your profile You are passionate about science or engineering and are currently studying biotechnology, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry or a relevant life-science or engineering subject at a university or at a university of applied sciences You may be a generalist looking to dive deeper into one topic, or a specialist looking to broaden your expertise - in either case you’re motivated to learn and apply what you learned in your internship project. Ideally you have already gathered some hands-on experience working in the lab and knowledge of data handling & analysis Communicative English, both spoken and written, is a must. Communicative German is definitely very helpful but not absolutely necessary Your benefits Flexible working hours (37.5 hours/week) Attractive recognition grant (2,268 Euro per month for a full-time internship > 3 months) Discounted meal prices (- 50%) in our staff canteen Sport Center on campus Online/Offline student networking events The possibility of accommodation in the Roche Boarding House or convenient transport connections to Munich with the Roche shuttle Your application We expect your CV and a cover letter in which you describe your motivation & relevant experience. Since we cover multiple aspects of biological drug development, please also state in your cover letter what your main interests are (cell line development, cell culture/upstream process development or protein purification/downstream process development). Please remember that this internship is aimed at students (m/f/d) who are currently enrolled for the entire period of the internship or, alternatively, at people in a gap year of a maximum of one year (between Bachelor's and Master's studies), where it can be proven in writing at which university/college and exactly when (month/year) within a year the studies will be continued. Please note that recommendations for all student activities (e.g. internships, theses, etc.) are excluded. Period: from September 2026 for a period of 6 months.
