Software Engineering Technical Leader

Meet the Team Join a cross-functional Cisco engineering team focused on building secure, user-centered software at scale. You’ll partner with design, product, and security groups to deliver reliable, privacy-preserving solutions that customers love. Your Impact You will lead design and delivery of medium-to-large features, influence architecture and security, mentor engineers, and drive improvements in engineering practices and observability. Lead technical design and implementation of complex features from concept through production. Drive secure-by-design decisions, participate in threat modeling, and improve secure coding practices. Mentor engineers and facilitate knowledge sharing (demos, design sessions, brown-bags). Define and track success metrics; own postmortems and reliability improvements. Collaborate with cross-functional partners to balance delivery trade-offs and roadmap priorities. Minimum qualifications:BS in Computer Science or related field 8+ years software engineering experience in systems programming (C, C++ or Java) with complex codebases Understanding of network security, secure code, threat modelling Hands-on experience with cryptography, TLS internals, or Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Hands on experience with AI coding Preferred QualificationsUnderstanding of modern attack methods. Hands-on experience with security testing tools Hands on experience in cloud development – advantage Prior experience collaborating with corporate security groups or acting as a security ambassador Proficiency in Go, Rust, Python or JavaScript (in addition to C/C++/Java) Why Cisco?
