THE ROLE: As AMD continues to drive reference laptop designs to better close to customer and internal validation needs, a dedicated System Design Lead is required to drive cross-functional alignment, evaluate design options, and ensure timely delivery of final laptop designs. THE PERSON: As a Leader in Systems Design Engineer ing , You will work closely with internal teams and external engineering partners to lead technical discussions, assess implementation feasibility, identify design risks, and drive design decisions toward successful program execution. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Lead deep technical engagement with partners to co-develop laptop systems aligned with AMD platform requirements. • Act as the primary technical interface between partners and AMD internal functional teams. • Drive cross-team technical discussions, issue triage, and debug closure. • Evaluate and select key laptop components, including display panels, touch solutions, camera, audio, sensors, wireless modules, and other platform-related components. • Work with internal teams and external engineering partners to review design feasibility, integration risks, cost impact, schedule readiness, validation requirements, and platform compatibility. • Identify technical risks early and drive mitigation plans across Internal AMD and external teams. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s degree or above in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. • 10+ years of experience in notebook/laptop system design, platform design, or product design execution. • Strong understanding of laptop component ecosystem trends and practical design considerations. • Experience leading cross-functional technical discussions across engineering, validation, sourcing, and partner teams. • Experience driving debug, issue tracking, and closure for complex laptop platform problems. • Strong English communication skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions across teams. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: • Experience working with top-tier laptop platform companies. • Experience with AMD mobile platforms or customer laptop programs. • Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small technical project teams. #LI-EH1 Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance .
