Position Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and technically strong Software Engineer who combines deep software engineering expertise with technical leadership, architectural thinking, and a strong sense of ownership. This role requires an engineer who is comfortable leading complex technical initiatives while remaining hands-on throughout the software development lifecycle—from requirements analysis and architecture to implementation, testing, deployment, and customer support. The ideal candidate embraces an AI-first software engineering approach, effectively leveraging AI-assisted development tools, code generation platforms, and modern software engineering practices to improve developer productivity, software quality, and delivery speed. This individual will serve as a technical leader within a Scrum team, influencing architecture, mentoring engineers, driving engineering excellence, and solving challenging technical problems through innovative thinking. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership Provide technical leadership for complex product features and cross-functional initiatives. Drive architecture, design decisions, and technology direction aligned with product strategy. Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and code reviews while promoting engineering best practices. Mentor and coach engineers to improve technical capability, software craftsmanship, and engineering productivity. Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and technical excellence. Software Development Design, develop, and maintain high-quality desktop applications using C++, Modern C++ (C++11/14/17), MFC, and C#/.NET. Participate across the complete software development lifecycle including requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support. Build scalable, maintainable, and extensible software architectures. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following modern software engineering practices. Drive continuous improvements in code quality, performance, reliability, and maintainability. Ownership & Delivery Take end-to-end ownership of software modules and technical deliverables. Drive features from concept through deployment with accountability for quality, schedule, and customer impact. Identify technical risks early and proactively develop mitigation strategies. Collaborate effectively with Product Management, Architects, QA, DevOps, and global engineering teams. AI-Driven Software Engineering Effectively utilize AI-powered developer tools and coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar) to improve engineering productivity. Leverage AI-assisted code generation, code review, debugging, documentation, refactoring, and test generation tools while maintaining high standards of code quality and security. Evaluate and adopt emerging AI development lifecycle (AI-DLC) tools and practices that accelerate software delivery. Champion responsible AI adoption across engineering teams by promoting best practices for AI-assisted software development. Problem Solving & Innovation Solve highly complex technical problems through analytical thinking, creativity, and innovative design approaches. Evaluate multiple solution alternatives considering scalability, performance, maintainability, and long-term product evolution. Drive technical innovation by identifying opportunities to modernize architecture, improve automation, and enhance engineering efficiency. Continuously identify opportunities to simplify systems, eliminate technical debt, and improve developer experience. Agile Development Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, estimation, retrospectives, and technical discussions. Contribute to release planning and technical roadmap execution. Support CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps best practices. Quality Engineering Develop comprehensive unit, integration, and system tests. Ensure software meets high standards of reliability, security, performance, and maintainability. Drive automation initiatives across development and testing workflows. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 6+ years of professional software development experience. Strong expertise in Modern C++ (C++11/14/17 or later), MFC, and C#/.NET. Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, SOLID principles, and software architecture. Experience designing and developing large-scale desktop or instrument control applications. Strong debugging, performance optimization, and problem-solving skills. Experience working with SQL databases and persistence technologies. Experience with version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development methodologies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in global, cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience in Life Sciences, Diagnostics, Medical Devices, or Instrument Software development. Experience with Flow Cytometry applications. Exposure to cloud-native applications and distributed systems. Knowledge of DevOps practices and automated software delivery. Experience with software architecture modernization initiatives.
