Join the GSK’s Apprentice Program: Help us get ahead of disease together Education required: You are regularly enrolled in a work-linked (alternance) Master’s Degree in Analytical Engineering in an Educational Establishment located in Belgium. Language requirement: French and English (English B2 required). Other requirements: A genuine interest in laboratory automation, robotics and AI-enabled laboratory operations. Familiarity with analytical/laboratory techniques, method validation or experimental data analysis is a plus. Expected start date: October 2026 Work arrangements: Mainly on-site in Belgium, given the hands-on laboratory nature of the role Requisite: You are currently following a work-linked (alternance) training course at a Belgian educational establishment. The apprenticeship must be mandatory & done in the framework of the curriculum, for which an agreement must be signed between GSK, the student and the Educational Establishment. Are you passionate about laboratory science, robotics and the future of AI-enabled laboratory operations? Join our team as an Analytical Engineering apprentice and contribute directly to our Physical AI roadmap, working across two key workstreams: validating the interaction between AI agents and laboratory instruments, and generating the data that trains our laboratory automation models. You will gain hands-on, real-world experience at the intersection of laboratory science and artificial intelligence. AI-to-Lab Integration Validation Execute and troubleshoot automated laboratory workflows on robotic platforms. Verify the consistency, traceability and reliability of data generated through AI-driven laboratory operations. Identify, document and report issues and improvement opportunities. Data Generation for Physical AI Models Analyse experimental results and assess data quality for AI model development. Support the design and optimisation of automated laboratory protocols to improve robustness, efficiency and reproducibility. Exposure to Laboratory Automation Technologies Work with automated liquid handling and laboratory robotics platforms. Collaborate with automation engineers, software programmers to support Physical AI initiatives. This role is focused on execution, testing and data-generation activities directly supporting the development and validation of our Physical AI use cases. What are we looking for? Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Show us how you can solve difficult problems and think analytically. Rigorous & Methodical: Demonstrate a structured, detail-oriented approach to testing, data collection and experimental documentation. Open to Feedback: Be ready to listen to feedback and make improvements. Good listening and communication skills are important for this role. Demonstrated interest in laboratory robotics, Artificial Intelligence, autonomous laboratories, or the digital transformation of scientific research. Laboratory & Analytical Skills: Experience with laboratory instrumentation, analytical/biochemistry techniques. Basic knowledge of scripting, data analysis or scientific computing tools (e.g. Python, Excel, Jupyter notebooks) is an asset.
