THE ROLE: AMD is seeking a Component Quality & Reliability Engineer to join the Component Quality & Reliability team. In this highly visible role, you will serve as the technical owner for key components used across AMD products, driving quality and reliability from concept through end-of-life. You will partner closely with global suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure component quality, manufacturing readiness, and long-term reliability, helping de-risk product launches and strengthen customer confidence. THE PERSON: The ideal candidate is an experienced supplier quality and reliability professional with deep expertise in manufacturing processes, component qualification, and supplier quality management. You are a strong technical leader who thrives in cross-functional environments, enjoys solving complex quality challenges, and can effectively influence suppliers and internal stakeholders. You bring exceptional organizational skills, strong project management capabilities, and a continuous improvement mindset to drive quality throughout the product lifecycle. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as the primary quality interface for strategic component suppliers supporting AMD business units. Lead supplier quality and reliability issue resolution, driving root cause investigations, containment activities, corrective actions (8D), and long-term improvements. Develop component quality and reliability requirements in collaboration with engineering teams and ensure supplier compliance with AMD specifications, including electrical requirements, derating guidelines, APQP, reliability, and outgoing DPPM targets. Lead mass production readiness reviews, including supplier manufacturing assessments and on-site factory audits. Define, monitor, and improve supplier quality KPIs throughout product development, production ramp, and end-of-life. Partner with design, package engineering, and board operations teams to ensure supplier manufacturing capabilities meet AMD Design for Manufacturability (DFM) requirements. Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance supplier quality, manufacturing capability, and overall product reliability. Collaborate with sourcing, component engineering, board design, silicon and package reliability teams, operations, quality leadership, and business units to support successful product development and production. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Extensive experience in manufacturing, supplier quality, quality engineering, or reliability engineering. Experience supporting one or more of the following component technologies: Mechanical enclosures Discrete semiconductors Multi-chip modules Memory Power modules Board products Experience developing process quality plans and conducting supplier quality audits. Strong knowledge of 8D methodology, root cause analysis, corrective actions, reliability testing, failure analysis, and Six Sigma tools. Hands-on experience with process capability analysis, measurement system analysis (GR&R/AR&R), cross-cavity validation, and process qualification. Demonstrated success building strong supplier relationships and influencing technical and business decisions across global organizations. Experience working with international OEMs and contract manufacturers. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a global matrix organization. Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills. Self-motivated with a proactive approach and strong attention to detail. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
