Position Summary: Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a motivated and talented Media Development Scientist to join our China team. The successful candidate will assist in the development and optimization of cell culture media formulations to support various biopharmaceutical production processes. This position requires a solid foundation in cell biology, biochemistry, and process development, with a keen interest in improving cell culture performance , product yield and quality Key Responsibilities: - Lead and assist in the design, execution, and analysis of experiments aimed at developing and optimizing cell culture media formulations for various cell lines and biopharmaceutical production processes, including but not limited to CHO-S, CHOK1, CHOZN and other cell lines. - Support the development and implementation of high-throughput and multi-omics based screening methods for media development and optimization, familiar with different scales of cell culture process and optimization from Ambr, shake flasks to small and large scale bioreactors. - Support technical work related to the media application, including dry powder media milling and blending, materials management, media formulation. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including commercial, R&D, process development, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure the successful integration of developed media into production workflows; - Collaborate with BPG China Sales/Marketing/PM Team, extended R&D Team (from other division), and other teams as appropriate, to investigate and provide solutions when complains issued, to fully define and generate innovative custom products and applications data relevant for the China bio-pharmaceutical and biologics market. - Utilize statistical tools and software for experimental design and data analysis. - Maintain detailed and accurate records of experimental protocols, data, and results, adhering to regulatory and quality standards. - Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings to internal stakeholders. - Prepare material and present at technical update meetings, customer visits, scientific conferences. - Provide technical support and assistance to senior scientists and laboratory staff, including but not limited to raw material management, critical equipment and facility maintenance, cell and viral bank management etc. - To ensure projects executed with high integrity and the interest of Thermo Fisher Scientific, candidate must be a proven leader of integrity, in compliance with non-competition agreement, and supportive to enhance data security and IP protection. - Stay current with advancements in cell culture technology and media development through literature review and participation in scientific conferences. - willing to travel up to 40% of the time, open to work at customer sites for extended period of time for key projects and during critical project stage. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years or Master's degree with 3+ years of experience in Biology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or other related field, and continuous hands-on experience in study experiments, 5S training and good sense on GLP. - Good understanding of cell culture, media development and optimization. - Solid knowledge of cell metabolism, nutrient requirements, and bioprocessing principles. - Familiarity with statistical analysis and experimental design software (e.g., JMP, Design-Expert) is a plus. - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Good written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese. - Experience with high-throughput screening techniques and laboratory automation is desirable. - Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards in biopharmaceutical manufacturing is a plus. Preferred Qualifications: (optional) - Familiar with upstream instruments and products from Thermo Fisher Scientific, such as media, CO2 incubator, bioreactor, automation system. - Working experience in similar Customer Experience/Excellent Center or CRO/CDMO is preferred. - Experience in managing external scientific collaborations, CRO or CDMO is preferred, strong project management skills and experiences - Strong business sense and experience on business development, experience on drafting study plan and executing accordingly. - Experience coordinating with development teams outside China - Understanding of financial planning and budgeting processes.
