Work Schedule 12 hr shift/nights Environmental Conditions Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards Job Description Summary: Ensure the efficient completion of packaging floor activities in order to meet scheduled production deadlines. Ensure product quality meets the standards of Patheon, our clients, and applicable regulatory agencies including, but not limited to the Health Products and Food Branch Inspectorate (HPFBI), United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and European Medicines Agency (EMEA). Essential Functions: Monitor line operators to ensure strict adherence to Packaging Work Order (PWO) instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and to ensure product scheduling and targets are being met. Document all batch requirements in a timely and accurate manner and updates production target data. Plan material flow to and from the line operations. Manage the daily distribution of work for line operators on the line. Trouble shoot line problems and sources appropriate action if required (i.e., clear jams, change rolls). Perform line start up (greenline). Verify in-process and Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) checks. Manage employee relations issues that occur on the line. Assist in training and development of line operators and provides performance feedback to management. Assist in reconciliation at end of line run. Assist in investigation of Deviation Reports (DR). Act as a back up to Senior Line Operators and Team Leaders. Maintain a safe working environment and reports potential hazards. Perform alternating or rotating shift work. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school diploma or equivalent required Experience: Minimum 4 years of previous pharmaceutical packaging and machine operating experience. Equivalency: Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven ability to coach and develop staff as well as the technical ability to coordinate departmental business activities. Full knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices requirements and pharmaceutical processing regulations. Strong leadership, team building and organizational skills. Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including the ability to develop spreadsheets, presentations and reports. Proficiency with the English Language. Standards and Expectations: Follow all Environmental Health & Safety Policies and Procedures. Work collaboratively with fellow team members, modelling positive team principles and partnering to meet project and departmental objectives. Carry out all duties within strict compliance to Patheon quality systems Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion. Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.). Be client and patient conscious at all times. Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to improve the performance of the team by identifying areas for system improvements and engage in problem solving. Models positive thinking and is open to change, motivating the team to adapt to shifts in priorities and new ways of working. Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures. Communicate risks to timelines in a proactive manner. Consistently strives to improve skills and knowledge in related field. Physical Requirements: Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about manufacturing/office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of up to 40 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity; visual acuity to operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time. Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, loud noise, bright lights, fumes, or odour. Use of Personal Protective equipment is required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator. Compensation The estimated annualized pay range for this position in Ontario is $41,900.00–$54,080.00.
