As R&D Senior Manager – Mechanics, you will lead a highly skilled team of engineers responsible for delivering robust, innovative mechanical solutions across our portfolio. You will play a pivotal role in driving excellence in New Product Development, while supporting selected Lifecycle Management initiatives. In this leadership role, you will balance technical direction, people development, and execution excellence. You will shape and evolve the team’s capabilities to meet future demands—leveraging emerging technologies, including AI-driven engineering approaches—while ensuring delivery of high-quality solutions that meet stringent timelines and performance expectations. You will foster a culture grounded in zero-defect manufacturing principles, where design robustness, reliability, and manufacturability are embedded from concept through to production. In this role you will have the opportunity to shape future diagnostic platforms, influence global R&D mechanics organization, building next-generation mechanical engineering capabilities and have a direct contribution to improve patient care through Radiometer customer solutions. Success in this role will be measured by successful delivery of NPD and LCM milestones, improved development efficiency, strengthened mechanical engineering capabilities, increased design robustness, and sustained team engagement. This position reports to the Director of Instrument Hardware and is part of the global Instrument R&D function. Location for position is Denmark and role will be on-site. You will work on a global footprint closely collaborating with team members in India, China and Poland. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Drive execution Oversee, as Functional Manager, the end-to-end design, development, and transfer to manufacturing of mechanical parts and assemblies in an efficient manner Provide strong technical leadership and expert guidance to the team and cross-functional partners Ensure effective alignment of mechanical development activities with a broad network of stakeholders, including Global Service, Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, and R&D functions Drive long-term planning with a focus on New Product Development (NPD) mechanical roadmaps, while supporting Lifecycle Management (LCM) priorities Manage and develop team Lead, coach, and develop the R&D Mechanics team to build a high-performing and engaged organization Drive talent development, succession planning, and capability building to ensure the organization is positioned for future growth and innovation Drive the development and standardization of processes to enable consistent, high-quality project execution and continuous improvement Stay at the forefront of industry trends and technological advancements, integrating relevant innovations into the team’s work Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and knowledge sharing across teams and functions The essential requirements of the job include: Master’s Degree/Ph. D preferred in Mechanical Engineering or similar > 7 years of experience in developing products in a regulated environment Deep technical expertise in mechanical engineering, with the ability to define strategy and set technical direction Demonstrated experience managing the different complexity levels of systems, from highly integrated instrument platforms (multi-disciplinary integration of mechanics, electronics, optics, and fluidics) to high-volume consumables (precision, manufacturability, cost optimization, and scalability) Strong experience in working with external partners (suppliers, development houses, consultants) It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: > 5 years of experience within MD / IVD industry incl. solid understanding of the documentation practices demanded by regulators in key markets incl. FDA and EU. Strong understanding of trade-offs between instrument and consumable design, including system performance vs. cost, precision vs. scalability, and innovation vs. robustness Strong knowledge of engineering best practices and methodologies such as DfX (DFR, DFMA, DFS, DFM), FMEA and tolerance analysis Knowledge of simulation, materials, manufacturing processes, metrology, and machine shop practices Application We continuously assess candidates and invite them for interviews, so please don’t hesitate to write and send in the application.
