Job description
Bring more to life. Are you ready to accelerate your potential and make a real difference within life sciences, diagnostics and biotechnology? Within Danaher the work our diagnostic businesses do saves lives—and we’re all united by a shared commitment to innovate for tangible impact. You’ll thrive in a culture of belonging where you and your unique viewpoint matter. And by harnessing Danaher’s system of continuous improvement, you help turn ideas into impact – innovating at the speed of life. We’re accelerating the development of cutting-edge diagnostics to solve some of the world’s most pressing health challenges. Across our diagnostics operating companies we are driving innovation through partnerships with top academic institutions and leading players in biopharma and translational research. We’re bringing the best minds together to accelerate innovation and unlock the full potential of the latest scientific advances. Together, we’re expanding access to precision diagnostics for millions of people worldwide — and we’re using our unmatched global scale and proven playbook to make it happen, from hospital labs to mobile clinics. By helping providers, patients, and families get faster, more precise diagnostic results, we’re improving treatment options and saving lives. Learn about the Danaher Business System which makes everything possible. The Senior Director, Program Management Maturation & Delivery is responsible for maturing and elevating program management across the Chief Innovation Office — moving delivery beyond traditional, linear program management through modern, technology- and AI-enabled ways of working — and for serving as a senior operational partner to Chief Innovation Office (CIO) leaders. This role owns end-to-end delivery against strategic and financial targets and leads the program management team that supports the organization’s most complex, highest-priority programs. This position reports to the Vice President, Execution & Process Excellence and is part of the Execution & Process Excellence team within the Danaher Diagnostics Chief Innovation Office and will be fully remote. An initial focus of this role is a close working partnership with the Oncology and Neurodegenerative Disease franchises. Over time, this focus may shift to other disease portfolios or enablement functions as CIO priorities evolve. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Serve as the senior program management partner who flanks an assigned Chief Innovation Office leader — initially the Oncology & Neurodegenerative Disease leader — connecting the dots across complex programs, anticipating needs, and bringing gravitas and an integrative, whole-system perspective to the partnership. Lead, coach, and develop the program management team — setting standards and ways of working, prioritizing across the portfolio, and exercising the judgment to know when to lean in closely and when to enable the team to run. Mature and modernize the program management function by embedding AI-enabled tools, automation, and modern ways of working that move beyond traditional, linear program management to match the pace of innovation. Own end-to-end delivery against defined strategic and financial targets, aligning priorities, resources, and execution across the assigned portfolio while operating as a peer to the senior leaders accountable for those areas. Surface inconsistencies and early indicators of shifting priorities or risk, while ensuring alignment of priorities, resources, and execution across the assigned portfolio. Implement, sustain, and continuously improve the operating model in collaboration with Danaher Business System (DBS) and Operations Excellence partners — clarifying roles, decision rights, and ways of working across the ecosystem. Translate scientific advances, clinical evidence, and technology roadmaps into clear business implications and execution priorities, toggling fluidly between science and business for senior stakeholders. Lead cross-functional initiatives and change programs in ambiguous, upstream environments — building alignment and accountability across operating companies and external partners and vendors, firm where needed and bridge-building by default. The essential requirements of the job include: Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in a life sciences field; or a bachelor’s degree in a scientific field with commensurate additional experience. 12+ years of progressive functional experience in program or portfolio management, operations, or delivery within diagnostics, biotechnology, or pharmaceuticals. 5+ years of people-leadership experience, including direct management of program managers or equivalent professionals. Demonstrated experience implementing operating models, governance structures, or process-excellence frameworks at scale. Demonstrated experience applying AI and/or automation tools to program management, operations, or knowledge-work processes. Demonstrated experience translating scientific or clinical concepts into business, investment, or commercialization implications. Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional programs across a matrixed organization, including operating companies and external partners. Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: Ability to travel up to approximately 20-30%, as needed, for key leadership, governance, and program forums. It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: Working within or alongside Danaher Business System (DBS) tools and methodologies. Leading large-scale transformation or change initiatives in diagnostics or healthcare, particularly in innovation or upstream R&D environments. Supporting both disease portfolios and enablement functions (e.g., data, value & access). #LI-KW4 Within Danaher Diagnostics, we offer a broad array of comprehensive, competitive benefit programs that add value to our lives.
