This position reports to: Operations Manager - BL Excitation(AMEA) __ Your role and responsibilities In this role, you will execute technical service activities with low to medium complexity on DCS and PLC systems across hydro power plants and industrial facilities in the APAC region. You will deliver exceptional customer service while troubleshooting complex equipment, identifying operational improvement opportunities, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. Your work directly impacts customer satisfaction, operational reliability, and ABB's reputation for service excellence. Work Model: Hybrid #LI-Hybrid, Onsite #LI-Onsite This role is contributing to Automation Energy Industries Excitation Business. Locations: Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, or Thailand. You will be mainly responsible for: Contributing to customer satisfaction by planning and executing service work as per customer order and expectation(s). Ensuring customer retention by delivering superior customer experience and effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations. Working with the customer (while on-site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer’s operations and eliminate pain points. Performing field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and performing analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform. Preparing material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities. Planning and executing work on a first-time right approach with customers, and ensuring the job is done on time and as per quality standards. Identifying improvement needs and potential solutions for them in the ways of working. Troubleshooting equipment/process failures, requesting proactive corrective actions, and making recommendations to avoid such issues in the future. Preparing all documents and customer reports to be signed by the customer representative. Qualifications for the role: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent qualification with minimum 3 years of hands-on field service experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning of PLC/DCS systems. Proven expertise servicing multiple DCS system types with strong technical understanding of hydro power generation processes and demonstrated experience in power plants or industrial facilities (Oil & Gas, hydro power, or similar sectors). Proficiency with ABB PLC or DCS systems combined with hands-on troubleshooting experience with field instruments, control systems, and electrical automation concepts. Fluent in spoken and written English with excellent customer communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for documentation, reporting, and technical analysis. Proven problem-solving capability with ability to work independently in field environments, coordinate with distributed teams, and think critically to propose practical solutions to technical challenges.
