JOB DESCRIPTION:Role Purpose The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific expert who develops trusted partnerships with healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders, and academic institutions to advance patient care and scientific knowledge in diabetes management. The MSL generates medical insights, supports evidence generation initiatives, facilitates scientific exchange, and contributes to the appropriate understanding and adoption of Abbott Diabetes Care ( ADC) technologies. Through meaningful collaboration with the external healthcare community and internal stakeholders, the MSL helps shape medical strategies and reinforces Abbott Diabetes Care's scientific leadership. Major Accountabilities: Scientific Engagement & External Partnerships Develop and maintain trusted scientific partnerships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals, scientific societies, academic institutions, and other relevant stakeholders within the diabetes care ecosystem. Serve as a credible scientific expert and primary medical point of contact for assigned external stakeholders. Facilitate high-quality scientific exchange to advance understanding of diabetes management and Abbott Diabetes Care technologies. Medical Insights & Strategic Contribution Generate, analyze, and communicate actionable medical insights from the field to inform local and global medical strategies. Identify emerging scientific trends, unmet medical needs, and opportunities to improve patient care and clinical practice. Contribute medical expertise to strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects. Evidence Generation & Research Collaboration Support and facilitate investigator-initiated studies (IIS), collaborative research initiatives, real-world evidence projects, and publication activities. Identify opportunities to strengthen the scientific evidence supporting Abbott Diabetes Care solutions and contribute to advancing evidence-based medicine. Foster scientific collaborations with research centers and clinical experts. Medical Education & Scientific Communication Deliver balanced, accurate, and compliant scientific information to healthcare professionals and other stakeholders. Contribute to the planning and execution of medical education programs, advisory boards, scientific symposia, congress activities, and other Medical Affairs initiatives. Support the dissemination and interpretation of emerging clinical evidence relevant to diabetes care and continuous glucose monitoring technologies. Cross-Functional Collaboration · Build strong and collaborative working relationships with Regional Sales Directors, Sale forces, and other field-based colleagues to support the execution of regional plans and enhance the scientific understanding of the diabetes care environment. Act as the medical reference for regional teams by providing timely scientific expertise, medical insights, and support in addressing healthcare professional needs, when solicited and while maintaining appropriate medical independence and compliance. Partner with regional leadership teams to identify educational opportunities, emerging healthcare trends, unmet needs, and areas where Medical Affairs can create value for patients and healthcare professionals. Collaborate effectively with other cross-functional functions to ensure alignment and successful execution of key initiatives Collaborate with regional and global Medical Affairs colleagues to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and best practices. Compliance & Professional Excellence Maintain a high level of expertise in diabetes management, continuous glucose monitoring technologies, and the evolving healthcare environment. Ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations, industry codes, company policies, and the highest standards of ethics and compliance Education and Certification: Minimum Education REQUIRED : Scientific degree Preferred : PhD, MD, PharmD Advanced skills in evidence-based medicine, clinical study design or health economics or medical statistics Work Experience: Minimum 3- 5 years in a health sciences field. Previous experience in a customer-facing scientific, medical, or clinical role within the healthcare sector. Experience in Medical Affairs and/or within the medical device, diagnostics, or pharmaceutical industry is preferred. Experience in Diabetes ideally Expected Skills: High personal integrity and ethics required. Team oriented with the confidence, maturity and integrity to work effectively as a member of one of the top companies in the medical device industry. Excellent communication skills required Ability to build effective relationships with healthcare professionals and other external stakeholders. Driven to excel and capable of inspiring others to excellence as well. Must be able to prioritize activities to maximize impact to business performance (with science) Adaptable to shifting environment Organization skills required. Driving license for passenger car Fluent in local language and English Expected Computer literate including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) The base pay for this position is N/AIn specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
