Job Description We are seeking a highly motivated Key Account Specialist to join our Oncology team and serve as the main point of contact for allocated accounts and key stakeholders in the South Serbia region. The Key Account Specialist will work in close collaboration with the Oncology team to ensure an excellent customer experience and deliver value to patients, payers, and physicians. The role requires strong commercial acumen, scientific understanding, and the ability to build trusted long-term partnerships with key customers. Key Responsibilities: Business, Sales & Financial Responsibilities: Drive business results within assigned accounts by achieving or exceeding sales targets and agreed KPIs Manage activities in line with approved promotional budgets Develop account and business plans Prioritize accounts, set goals for priority customers, and evaluate progress against objectives Customer Engagement Responsibilities: Anticipate customer needs and maintain strong product knowledge among key customers Demonstrate high-level scientific and clinical knowledge to provide approved disease and therapeutic solutions, including product information and patient education Build and maintain long-term relationships and partnerships with key customers Establish and develop relationships with key decision-makers, including: Heads of Accounts Financial Directors Heads of Hospital Departments Hospital Health Committees Pharmacists Understand health economics principles and clinical implications Identify business opportunities and support appropriate pull-through Understand the current and evolving payer landscape in the country Develop and implement activity plans for key customers Collaboration Responsibilities: Support implementation and evaluation of marketing strategy Participate actively in regular Brand Team business update meetings Provide local market insights and business feedback to the Brand Team Initiate and coordinate cross-functional internal projects to address customer and business needs Manage administrative responsibilities, including CRM and coordination of national and regional events Ensure compliance with all local laws, SOPs, and ethical standards Work effectively in a complex environment across multiple functions, levels, and customer types Education & Experience: Healthcare-related education required; Bachelor’s or University degree from an accredited university preferred Preference for Medical Doctor or Pharmacist profile Minimum 2 years of commercial experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred Experience in a hospital environment is an advantage Proven ability to manage key external stakeholders, influence without authority, and execute action plans within cross-functional matrix teams Strong problem-solving, project planning, teamwork, analytical, and written/verbal communication skills Fluent in spoken and written English What We Offer: A dynamic and challenging role in a highly professional environment The opportunity to work closely with healthcare professionals and contribute to improved patient outcomes Collaboration with a talented cross-functional team Opportunities for professional growth and development Exposure to strategic account management in a complex and impactful therapeutic area A field-based role with strong regional responsibility and autonomy Competitive compensation and benefits package The chance to be part of an organization that values integrity, teamwork, and patient focus Additional Information: Location: South Serbia, with the candidate based in Niš Reporting line: Sales Manager Travel: Approximately 10% international travel and 50% domestic travel Customer-facing time: Around 80% of working time spent with customers Required Skills: Marketing Strategies, Oncology Sales, Product Knowledge, Relationship Management, Sales Process Management, Service Excellence, Stakeholder Management Preferred Skills: Current Employees apply HERE Current Contingent Workers apply HERE Search Firm Representatives Please Read Carefully Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, NJ, USA, also known as Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC, Rahway, NJ, USA, does not accept unsolicited assistance from search firms for employment opportunities.
