Job Description Job Description The Intermediate underwriter provides underwriting support and direction to underwriting management and their marketing forces for the purpose of improving growth and profit opportunities for new and in-force personal lines of insurance within assigned territories. The Intermediate Underwrite builds and maintains relationships internally and externally for the common purpose of providing extraordinary customer relationships, while profitably growing a personal lines multi-line book of business. The Intermediate Underwriter performs in a technical capacity, participates in quality reviews, problem solving, and other discussions, with appropriate input for solution-oriented goals. Key Responsibilities File documentation is clear and within Best Practice adopted by organization Works within a team that reviews policies and procedures Answers underwriting inquiries regarding interpretation of policy, procedures, rules and regulations Effectively communicates additional information needs, analysis process within eligibility guidelines, and decisions Work is within set parameters of quality and production standards, as applicable, and within agreed upon Service Level Agreements and regulations Assesses accuracy of data, considers alternative options, and prepares recommendations on referral files within their authority Reviews, underwrites, and prepares new business, endorsements, and renewals within guidelines for position Qualification Enrolled in CIP or actively pursuing designation. 3-5 years of Underwriting experience required Experience in the non-standard auto market as well as experience in a broker office would be an asset Knowledge of the Alberta regional insurance market and the broker within the market is considered an asset Strong negotiation skills, customer service skills and the ability and willingness to learn Strong attention to details Ability to collaborate with peers and subordinates to reach goals as well as the ability to work well independently Experience using Guidewire would be an asset Allstate Canada Group has policies and practices that provide workplace accommodations.
