Role Overview As a Full-Stack Engineer you will design, develop, and maintain software systems to build secure, efficient, and reliable software that meets business needs. You will collaborate with product, engineering and delivery teams to define functional and non-functional requirements and implement end-to-end solutions. You will regularly mentor peers, contribute to engineering standards and reusable patterns, working both independently as well as a part of a global team. What will you do in this role: Develop and maintain complex applications and software configurations in collaboration with global cross-functional teams. Regularly mentor colleagues, provide help with complex technical problems, defining engineering standards, and identifying reusable code and modules. Create and document designs for custom full-stack software applications or components, spanning front-end, back-end, APIs, and data storage. Use DevOps practices (e.g., Git, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring/observability) to automate delivery. Build and integrate UI, APIs, and data solutions using the supported technology stack. Elicit and refine requirements and apply software life cycle working practices and automation for software components and micro-services. Contribute to the development of solution architectures in business, infrastructure, or functional areas. Identify and evaluate alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost, performance and scalability. Partner with global cross-functional teams to plan, execute and release in an Agile setup and deliver within matrix organization. What should you have: Bachelors’ degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field 7-11 years of hands-on experience working in full-stack development Primary skills (must-have) Web fundamentals: HTML, CSS, HTTP, REST APIs Full-stack development: experience building web applications (front end, back end and data) Frontend technologies like Angular, React Strong in backend technologies like Java, .Net, Golang Databases: SQL and relational database design (plus practical query optimisation) Programming: proficiency in at least one major stack (TypeScript/Node/React, Java, Python or .NET) AWS cloud: building and operating services on AWS, with sound security and compliance practices. DevOps: Git, CI/CD, containers (Docker) and infrastructure as code; strong observability mindset Ways of working: Agile/Scrum, code reviews, test-driven development and strong stakeholder collaboration Secondary skills (nice to have) AWS certifications and experience with cloud-native patterns (serverless, event-driven, microservices) Experience with distributed data processing frameworks and secure data integrations UX and design thinking exposure; accessibility and performance best practices (check for UX experience) Experience working with globally distributed teams across time zones Who we are: We are known as Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, New Jersey, USA in the United States and Canada and MSD everywhere else.
