Position Summary The Senior Director, US Medical Affairs — Multiple Myeloma (MM) Cell Therapy is the senior strategic leader accountable for developing, executing, and ensuring success of the US Medical Affairs strategy across the BMS Multiple Myeloma Cell Therapy franchise. This role carries dual accountability: driving the commercial launch excellence of Arlo cel and stewarding the ongoing lifecycle management of Abecma, while maintaining a forward-looking lens on the broader MM Cell Therapy pipeline. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Head of US Cell Therapy Medical, this leader serves as the primary US medical voice for the MM Cell Therapy franchise — integrating perspectives from across the extended US and Worldwide (WW) matrices with a OneBMS mindset to ensure cross-functional alignment and franchise success. The role requires the depth of scientific expertise, credibility with our external thought leaders, and the leadership composure to operate effectively at the intersection of US commercialization, WW Medical Affairs, and global Clinical Development. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role at a pivotal moment in the evolution of BMS's Cell Therapy franchise, demanding an individual who can balance strategic vision with flawless operational execution in a complex, matrixed environment. Key Responsibilities Define and lead the integrated US Medical Affairs plan across the Multiple Myeloma Cell Therapy franchise in full alignment with US Commercialization and WW Medical strategies. Translate global direction into differentiated, market-ready US medical execution. Serve as the primary US Medical lead for Arlo cel, driving launch readiness and execution across all medical functions — including defining field medical engagement strategy, scientific exchange programs, KOL engagement, and pre/peri-launch medical education — with accountability for launch quality and measurable impact. Lead US Medical strategy for Abecma lifecycle management and align pipeline and clinical development priorities — advancing evidence generation, and field execution, and partnering with Clinical Development and global teams to support trial recruitment and data disclosure strategy. Function as a senior core member of the Worldwide MM Asset Indication Medical Strategy (AIMS) team, ensuring US market insights actively shape global strategy. Lead bidirectional alignment between global strategy and US execution, and provide strategic US input into pipeline development, trial design, and evidence priorities across the MM Cell Therapy portfolio. Drive Cross-Functional Integration with a OneBMS Approach. Lead and align the US Medical Cell Therapy MM execution with the broader BMS hematology narrative and strategy to deliver on cohesive, high-quality medical objectives with accountability for outcomes and budget stewardship. Provide perspectives to the MM Cell Therapy data generation strategy and ensure execution of the US Medical Evidence Generation portfolio. Partner with Medical Evidence Generation, Clinical Development, and WW colleagues to close evidence gaps and advance the integrated evidence plan across marketed products and pipeline assets. Serve as a credible, senior-level external representative of BMS in MM Cell Therapy — engaging thought leaders, cooperative groups, steering committees, and advisory boards to generate insights, shape the evolving treatment paradigm, and drive appropriate adoption of BMS medicines at major academic and community institutions. Manage, coach, and develop direct reports, establishing clear goals, driving accountability, and cultivating a culture of scientific excellence, urgency, and inclusion consistent with BMS values. Qualifications & Experience Strong scientific background including a medical scientific degree (MS, PhD, MD) in medicine, molecular biology, genomics, cancer biology or other relevant life sciences area preferred, 10+ years of experience in clinical and translational research and medical affairs in hematology/oncology across academia and industry; experience in multiple myeloma preferred. Experience and knowledge of the drug development and/or commercialization process is essential Deep expertise in Multiple Myeloma required; direct experience with CAR-T or Cell Therapy modalities strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience leading US Medical Affairs for a major product launch or lifecycle management program; CAR-T or cell therapy launch experience is a significant differentiator. Proven track record of operating effectively within complex, matrixed WW and US cross-functional organizations; demonstrated ability to influence without authority and build alignment across diverse stakeholders. Established relationships with MM thought leaders and KOLs at major academic centers; demonstrated ability to build and sustain credible external scientific partnerships. Strong understanding of market access, payer dynamics, and the commercialization process as they apply to specialty/cell therapy products. Exceptional strategic thinking: demonstrated ability to synthesize complex, multi-source inputs and translate them into clear, actionable medical strategies. Executive-level communication skills — oral, written, and presentation — with the ability to represent BMS credibly with both external experts and senior internal leadership. Proficiency in scientific and clinical data review and interpretation Customer focus orientation & credibility with customers Proven people leadership: experience building, coaching, and developing high-performing teams across direct and indirect reporting structures. High operational acumen: ability to manage multiple complex priorities in a deadline-driven environment with measurable accountability for outcomes.
