DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Engineer III, Product Verification & Validation (Software & Systems)Role OverviewResponsible for verification and validation of software and system functionality for Clinical and Industrial Analyzer platforms. The role focuses on validating desktop applications, instrument software, hardware-software integration, cybersecurity updates, operating system images, and sustaining product releases while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. The Engineer III will collaborate closely with Software Development, Systems Engineering, Hardware, Product Management, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, and Service teams to validate new features, defect fixes, and system integrations throughout the product lifecycle. Role Purpose SummaryAs part of the Product Verification & Validation team, you will be responsible for validating software functionality, system behavior, performance, reliability, security, and hardware-software integration. The role requires strong analytical and systems thinking skills with hands-on experience testing software interacting with laboratory instrumentation while ensuring verification activities maintain complete traceability to system and software requirements. Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Verification & ValidationDesign, develop, review, and execute verification plans, test strategies, test cases, test procedures, and automated test scripts. Perform functional, integration, system, regression, and end-to-end testing for new product features and sustaining releases. Validate software interacting with hardware components including analyzers, sensors, actuators, and peripheral devices. Reproduce customer-reported issues in laboratory environments and verify corrective actions. Develop, enhance, and maintain automated verification frameworks and regression test suites. Perform Windows and Linux operating system image validation and software configuration verification. Verify cybersecurity patches, vulnerability remediation, and software security compliance. Validate SQL database integrity, communication interfaces (TCP/IP, USB, IPC), and XML/JSON data exchange. Document verification results, defects, root cause observations, and verification reports. Support CI/CD initiatives through automated verification and continuous testing practices. Systems VerificationReview system requirements, software requirements, interface specifications, and design documents to ensure complete verification coverage. Collaborate with Systems Engineering to ensure verification activities maintain traceability between customer requirements, system requirements, subsystem requirements, and test cases. Participate in requirement reviews, design reviews, risk assessments, FMEA activities, and change impact analysis. Verify system-level functionality, subsystem interactions, and interface compliance. Ensure product verification activities support regulatory compliance and quality management system requirements. Validate that implemented software complies with intended system architecture and high-level design. Support verification of reliability improvements, CAPA activities, and engineering change validations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify verification gaps and improve overall product quality. Cross-functional CollaborationWork closely with Software Development, Systems Engineering, Hardware Engineering, QA, Regulatory, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Global Engineering teams. Support defect investigations through log analysis, debugging, and root cause verification. Contribute to continuous improvement of V&V processes, automation frameworks, and engineering best practices. Undertake documentation and other engineering support activities as required. Required QualificationsExperienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or related discipline. 12+ years of experience in Software Verification & Validation, Software Quality Engineering, Systems Verification, or Product Validation. Experience testing desktop applications and instrument-based software systems. Experience working in Agile development environments (Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe). Experience working in regulated environments such as Medical Devices, Clinical Diagnostics, Life Sciences, or Industrial Instrumentation is preferred. Technical ExpertiseStrong understanding of software testing methodologies, SDLC, STLC, and verification processes. Experience designing comprehensive test strategies and verification plans. Hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Selenium, NUnit, TestComplete, or equivalent. Working knowledge of C#.NET and/or C++ sufficient for understanding software implementation and debugging. Experience validating Windows desktop applications and Linux-based software. Experience with:Functional, Integration, System, Regression, and End-to-End Testing Multithreading and concurrency validation SQL database validation Communication protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, USB, and IPC XML and JSON data validation Windows and Linux operating system image validation Debugging tools and log analysis Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated test execution Understanding of cybersecurity testing, software vulnerability validation, and secure software practices. Ability to understand complex technical and scientific requirements and translate them into effective verification strategies. Systems Engineering KnowledgeUnderstanding of systems engineering principles, system architecture, and requirement decomposition. Experience reviewing and validating system requirements, interface specifications, and design documentation. Knowledge of requirements traceability throughout the product development lifecycle. Familiarity with risk management activities including FMEA and impact analysis. Understanding of hardware-software interactions and multidisciplinary product development. Awareness of regulatory and quality requirements applicable to laboratory instrumentation and medical/clinical software. Ability to evaluate system-level impacts of software changes across multiple subsystems. Preferred QualificationsExperience testing instrumentation or hardware-integrated software systems. Experience with automation in regulated environments (Medical Devices, Clinical Diagnostics, or Laboratory Instrumentation). Knowledge of Object-Oriented Design principles. Experience with system-level verification of complex electromechanical products. Exposure to requirements management and traceability tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion, Jama, or equivalent).
