Job Description: Microchip Technology is seeking a highly skilled Test Engineer to join our Analog Peripheral Interface Division (APID). This role is critical in working on pre- and post-silicon test engineering activities to support the development and high-volume manufacturing of advanced integrated circuit (IC) products. You will collaborate with global teams across design, verification, validation, product engineering, manufacturing, and quality to ensure robust and efficient product delivery. Key Responsibilities: Develop comprehensive pre-silicon characterization test plans based on product features. Perform test program development and ATE board design for both existing and new product initiatives. Support R&D and Operations teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance with Microchip’s Quality System requirements. Debug test programs and execute characterization plans. Analyze silicon performance, yield, and device marginalities. Drive cost and quality improvements across wafer fabrication, assembly, probe, final test, and supply chain. Additional Responsibilities Conduct production test yield analysis and root cause investigations. Support analysis of customer returns and drive enhancements in manufacturing and test processes. Collaborate with customer quality and applications teams to resolve issues and ensure high customer satisfaction. Design and develop PCBs for IC environmental qualification. Analyze multi-source data and generate reports for characterization, qualification, and yield analysis. Key Competencies Technical Ownership — Takes responsibility for test development, debug, characterization, qualification, and sustaining deliverables. Analytical Problem Solving — Uses structured data analysis, silicon behavior understanding, and root cause methods to resolve device and production issues. Cross-Functional Collaboration — Works effectively with design, product engineering, manufacturing, quality, applications, and global engineering teams. Customer and Quality Mindset — Supports customer issue resolution while maintaining strong alignment with quality and manufacturing expectations. Continuous Improvement — Identifies opportunities to improve yield, test coverage, test time, debug efficiency, and engineering workflows. Adaptability — Handles shifting priorities across new product development, sustaining, qualification, correlation, and production support activities. Requirements/Qualifications: Semiconductor Test Engineer – Key Requirements: Education BSEE/BSECE or equivalent with 3+ years of experience, preferably in Semiconductor Test Engineering. Technical Foundation Strong understanding of digital and analog circuits, from transistor to system level. Programming Experience with C/C++ and VBA programming. ATE Experience Hands-on experience with ATE hardware/software development. Familiarity with platforms such as SPEA, ETS, or J750. Validation and Correlation Knowledge of silicon development, validation, qualification, and correlation methodologies. Quality and Standards Familiarity with automotive standards and semiconductor quality requirements. Data Analysis Strong statistical data analysis skills, including MSA, GRR, and ANOVA. Tools and Systems Experience with version control systems such as Git and SVN. Proficient in Windows-based environments. Lab Skills Skilled in using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, and related instruments. Communication Strong verbal and written English communication skills. Experience collaborating with customers and global teams. Flexibility Ability to work effectively with global teams and accommodate shared lab schedules.
