Job DescriptionPosition Summary The Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for assigned commodities and suppliers to support business objectives, cost competitiveness, and supply continuity. This role partners closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Planning, and Product Management teams to drive supplier performance, support new product introductions (NPI), mitigate supply chain risks, and deliver measurable cost savings. The ideal candidate brings strong strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, negotiation, and analytical skills within a manufacturing environment. Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Sourcing & Commodity ManagementExecute commodity strategies aligned with business and operational objectives. Analyze spend data, market trends, supplier capabilities, and industry conditions to identify sourcing opportunities. Drive supplier consolidation, value engineering, and cost optimization initiatives. Lead RFQs, supplier selection processes, and sourcing projects. Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, contracts, and long-term supply agreements. Develop and implement sourcing strategies that achieve productivity, savings, and supply continuity objectives. Supplier Performance & Relationship ManagementManage relationships with key suppliers and strategic partners. Conduct regular supplier business reviews and performance evaluations. Drive continuous improvement in supplier quality, delivery, service, innovation, and cost performance. Develop and implement supplier performance improvement plans when necessary. Support supplier development initiatives to improve capabilities and strengthen partnerships. Supply Chain Risk & Business ContinuityMonitor commodity markets, supplier capacity, tariffs, currency fluctuations, and other supply chain risks. Develop and execute risk mitigation plans for sole-source suppliers and constrained materials. Establish dual-source, regionalization, and contingency strategies where appropriate. Ensure continuity of supply to support manufacturing and customer requirements. Cross-Functional Collaboration & NPI SupportPartner with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Planning, and Product Management teams to achieve business goals. Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, supplier selection, and supplier qualification efforts. Provide supplier and supply chain expertise to influence product design, manufacturability, and cost decisions. Coordinate supplier transfers, process validations, and supplier-driven improvement initiatives. Lead and support cross-functional projects related to sourcing, supplier performance, and operational excellence. Financial & Operational PerformanceDeliver annual cost savings, productivity improvements, and value creation initiatives. Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including cost, quality, delivery, inventory, and supplier performance. Develop cost models and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analyses to support sourcing decisions. Support inventory optimization and working capital improvement initiatives. Ensure sourcing decisions align with financial, operational, and strategic objectives. Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, commodity management, category management, or supply chain management. Experience negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Experience supporting manufacturing operations and supply chains. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams. Preferred QualificationsExperience managing global suppliers and international sourcing activities. Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs. ERP system experience, preferably SAP. Knowledge of cost modeling and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis. Experience in medical device, healthcare, life sciences, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments. Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, CPM, or equivalent.
