This position reports to: Proposals Team Leader __ The Internal Proposals Engineer supports the preparation and management of technical and commercial sales proposals for process instrumentation solutions. The role involves interpreting customer requirements, coordinating with internal stakeholders, developing accurate and compliant proposals, and managing opportunities through ABB systems. Success in this position requires strong technical understanding, attention to detail, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Your Role and Responsibilities In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact. Interpret and understand technical inquiry documents from customers. Engage confidently with customers to gather information required for proposal development. Create tailored technical and commercial proposals aligned to customer requirements, industry needs, and product capabilities. Utilize ABB’s internal tools to configure products and determine pricing. Collaborate with factories, sales teams, service departments, technical teams, support functions, and third parties as required. Obtain compliant quotations from ABB businesses and third-party suppliers. Develop accurate cost models to support proposals. Log, track, and manage opportunities using ABB systems and tools. Ensure proposals comply with internal governance requirements and support business profitability through appropriate commercial terms and conditions. Review received orders and facilitate project handover where necessary. Support documentation control processes associated with major projects. Work model: hybrid {#LI-hybrid} from our St Neots location Qualifications for the Role Strong background in instrumentation and/or process control within water, industrial, or other process industries. Experience supporting technical solutions for end users across sectors such as Water, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Food & Beverage, Metals, Cement, Power, Utilities, and Energy. Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple proposals and deadlines simultaneously. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities. Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Understanding of corporate governance, commercial requirements, and compliance standards. Positive and professional work ethic. Interest in engineering, sales, and commercial processes.
