Strategy, Portfolio & Operations (SPO) is a unified function that serves as the strategic and operational backbone enabling pRED's strategy from lab to clinic. Operating under a dynamic Chapter Model, SPO centralises specialised skills across critical areas, including Sites & Lab Services, Program & Project Management, Strategy, Clinical Operations, External Operations, Capability Development, Core Lab Technology Platforms (360Labs) and Asset Team Leadership. SPO’s mission is to drive enterprise value creation by delivering operational excellence and accelerating portfolio productivity. As a trusted partner, SPO fosters a culture of collaboration and accountability to ensure pRED transitions assets smoothly from early research to late-stage development. At Roche/Genentech Pharma Research and Early Development Clinical Operations (pRED CO), we are determined to transform early drug development and realise our Pharma Ambition to deliver 20 transformative medicines addressing diseases with the highest societal burden by 2029. The pRED Portfolio Strategy & Delivery Lead leads the delivery of one or more of our Discovery & Delivery Areas (DTAs), driving productivity, efficiency and innovation. This senior people leadership position holds significant accountability for the pRED Clinical Operations strategy and execution, as well as enterprise collaboration. The Opportunity The pRED Portfolio Strategy & Delivery Lead is a senior strategic leader and decision-maker within Roche pRED Clinical Operations and is responsible and accountable for shaping an industry-leading CO DTA strategy that successfully delivers the pRED portfolio of programs and studies in the assigned DTA(s). Leads the functional area of responsibility (Asset, Study Management, Data & Technology or People), driving the identification and development of new ways of working to push the boundaries of excellence in delivery and engagement continually. As the DTA Portfolio Strategy & Delivery Lead, you will: Build, drive, and enhance cross-functional enterprise collaborations and influence decision-making across early- and late-stage development, while providing a strong strategic operational voice to remove barriers and align on priorities. pRED: Partner with Early Development Heads and Project Team Leaders to translate eSPC and DTA strategies into a coherent pRED CO delivery portfolio strategy that balances business needs with budgets and resources. Serve as the primary decision-maker for prioritising strategic operational DTA decisions, collaborating across early and late-stage teams to optimise day-to-day execution. Additionally, leverage data analytics, informatics, and AI to drive data-driven decision-making, while working cross-functionally with CO leadership to refine delivery strategies, overcome performance challenges, and enhance both operational efficiency and employee engagement. PD, gRED and Roche Enterprise: As the voice for pRED in your therapeutic area(s) you must proactively identify, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with senior leaders across the Roche Enterprise to ensure early development representation and influence for the end-to-end delivery of the portfolio, including late-stage Development and Roche Diagnostics. External Stakeholders: Proactively identify, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with key external partners including patient advocacy organisations, Therapeutic Area Experts (TAE), Health Authorities, vendors in accordance with our sourcing strategy, and key development partners. Performance Management: Regular year-round assessment of performance, contributions, and impact and providing feedback, coaching and performance management. People Leadership: Lead and develop a matrixed organisation of employees, including direct reports who may be people leaders themselves. Support all perspectives and seek out input from underrepresented voices. Provide opportunities for growth and development for all team members and address any barriers that may exist. People management-related administration (e.g. Workday People & Culture Management system tasks) and contact for employment-related matters. Strategic Leadership & Business Alignment: Accountable for developing, driving, and ensuring the implementation of an industry-leading business information systems and technologies strategy for pRED Clinical Operations. This strategy aligns with and supports the evolving pRED and Roche Clinical Operations strategy, leverages insights from the competitive external landscape, and is built in close collaboration with pRED Strategy & Portfolio and other Roche Business Partners. Ultimately, by leveraging data-driven insights and cutting-edge technology, your strategy enables and empowers our people and community to simplify decision-making—driving industry-leading execution and operational excellence to accelerate portfolio delivery. Stakeholder Collaboration & Governance: Accountable for global stakeholder engagement and enterprise collaboration, partnering across the Roche Clinical Operations and IT organisations to deliver transformative business information & technology solutions. In this capacity, you will serve as the primary representative and decision-maker for pRED Clinical Operations at key pRED or Roche committees regarding tools and technology.
